it's monday and park jimin has never been this excited to go to work.
the man loves his job, he just doesn't fancy being at the company. to him, workplace is merely somewhere full of gloominess and boredom; yet at the same time, it lacks honesty and truths. as an exceptional anthropologist, he knows human more than how they are theoretically defined. he sees through them, reads them like a book. and what's lies in their minds scare him everytime.
a devil was once an angel, jimin believes in that quote.
but today isn't a bad day. namjoon has allowed him to bring seulgi to work temporarily until she is able to take care of herself at home, on which jimin couldn't agree more.
he walks up to their bedroom, opening the door carefully so as not to wake seulgi up. under the light from the buttered yellow leaves against the rising sun, there he sees her, his little treasure who is half-sunken deeply in her fairy dreams.
jimin approaches the woman, kneeling down and drawing closer to her lovely face. it's been a couple of days yet his heart still beats so hard whenever her image appears, as if they are already in a relationship that is so blissful.
within a second, his lips alight on her forehead. "good morning, sweetheart."
then he hears seulgi speaks, barely a lazily whisper as she draws back a smiles. the sudden brush awakens her consciousness, like a dew drop on flower petals caught in a breeze, soft and delicate, with the slightest hint of chill.
seulgi slowly sits up, adjusting her gaze at the same level as his. some strands of hair tumble in front of her face, which is swiftly brushed away by a slide of his thumb. jimin looks into her eyes to see those deep pools of amber that display her soul, now nothing is on his way of enjoying her morning beauty anymore.
perhaps, his small happiness lies at her side. namjoon is right, it is best to keep seulgi home as it is for her sake. but his fondness for her is so strong that it ignites like a flame upon guiltiness. so even how well he knows it is not safe for her to go outside, the man couldn't stand being parted from her either.
"seulgi too!" the girl suddenly leans forward which makes his pulse race, then her lips touch his cheek. as the soft skin of her mouth leaves the side of his face, a bright grin creeps onto her face. "good morning, jimin."
time stops. his heart stands still and his breath lingers in his throat. his cheeks paint themselves rose red as their eyes are locked, having a private conversation of their own.
in that short moment when she moved closer, jimin happened to catch the aroma of her silky hair. it smells freshly-showered. chamomile.
to most people, a kiss on the cheek would be a sign of friendship, or a polite way to greet someone they just meet. but to jimin, simple though it may be, a peck is special in its own, unique way. truth is, the one he gives her can be as meaningful as a romantic kiss, and he hopes seulgi feels the same.
"let's get ready, seul. we're going to my workplace."
jimin gives seulgi something formal to change - a baby blue boat-neck blouse which has been neatly tugged in her white flare midi-skirt. she pulls her long brown hair back into a low ponytail that is shaded to a lighter shade of gold in the sunlight, warm caramels in between streaks. he watches her silhouette against the morning rays, too attractive, too unmatchable.
"you look beautiful." jimin gives seulgi a honey smile as he holds her hand, leading her downstairs to have their usual breakfast - avocado toast and poached egg that was made with love and effort.
