"Hey"
"Ooh wow, Hey.... It's you. How did you find me? How're you here?"
Kayla was genuinely surprised. He was the last person she expected to find when she heard the knock.
Per her knowledge, he didn't know where she lived and most importantly he had no reason to visit. It wasn't her intention to be rude or awkward as she realized she was being but she was genuinely surprised. A little spooked....maybe.Dennis smiled at the look of bewildment on the face of the girl he had gone out of his way to find. She looked really beautiful with her silly messy bun on top of her head. Her small eyes looked incredibly annoyed, fiesty and attractive all at the same time. Where was this attitude earlier?
"I asked around for you at the party. I realized you weren't there so I decided to see if everything was okay with my date. It's a bit unusual and rude to stand your date up." Dennis replied.
"Date?" she hadn't agreed to.. Ooh yeah, to give your money back. You're quite eager to have it back. " Kayla remembered, replying back jovially.
"It still doesn't explain how you're here." she said smiling this time.
"Someone showed me where you lived."
"That's a lie. No one really knows me around here. Don't lie" Kayla interrupted him.
And Kayla was right. Only a handful of her course mate knew her by name and out of those handful, only about half knew where she lived. She was very particular about her privacy.
Everyone else that knew her by face knew her as Olive's friend.
She was starting to feel weird about Dennis. She had watched enough of Murder on tv to know how these killings begun. Olive was not around and didn't even know about Dennis.
Who was going to help her family identify her murderer if this guy was indeed a stalker?Dennis could tell the girl in front of him was scared out of her mind. He would laugh if he didn't believe she would misunderstand that. Kayla really was interesting.
"I'm not lying. See, I took a picture of you earlier." Dennis gave his phone to Kayla.
Truly, there she was on the screen, her cheeks full with food and her right hand covering her mouth. Her left hand was holding a can of coke and she was smiling at the camera or at Dennis, at the time. She looked beautiful in the picture.
"I showed a few people this picture and someone pointed me to where you lived. I called you several times but.. Dennis paused. Embarrassed by her hostility, Kayla invited Dennis in.
"Sorry about that, my phone isn't with me and I really wasn't expecting you. I got a little scared seeing you here." she said as Dennis sat down on the couch.
"Yeah I know.... I could tell you were, your eyes said it all." As she giggled, he continued " has anyone told you your eyes look like that of a cat, scaredy cat? Scaredy cat because your cat-like eyes looked scared. " He continued awkwardly as Kayla stared at him after he called her a scaredy cat.
"That's silly and I hope no one would because I prefer dogs" she replied amused at how her mood had changed from being scared to being excited about the sudden company.
"Really?? Cats?" she asked as she noticed the look of incredulity she was getting from Dennis. "They're so snobbish. I can't imagine ever living with one"
"But dogs are cool ?"
"Duhh.... Yeah. They're called man's best friends for a reason, cat boy" Kayla said teasing Dennis.
"Your catty style of conversation is so endearing, scaredy cat" Dennis teased back smirking.
"Or should I say doggy style since...."
Fuck! Why had he just said that? He mentally face palmed as he watched Kayla stop smiling. As if that wasn't enough, his brain had automatically started churning out images he shouldn't be and couldn't stop thinking about. He knew he was going to have no sleep later that night."Do you care for a soda or some juice or water?" she finally said breaking the awkward tension that was getting thicker by the second.
"Just water, thank you. "
Kayla caught herself just before she bended over fully to pick up a napkin that was lying on the floor on her way to the kitchen. The napkin wasn't going to burn a hole into the floor. It could lay there for a while.
Meanwhile Dennis was glad for Kayla's split second decision. He wasn't a rapist. He could get a lot of girls he wanted, he was that confident about himself. In this case, he just wanted to leave there with his mind intact. He had just started noticing details he had missed earlier and the body he was beholding was starting to drive him crazy.
Like how busty she really was, her slightly big ass and her almost flat stomach. He could tell by looking at her golden skin that it was incredibly soft. The way her ass wobbled as she walked to the kitchen said everything. If only it was his now to touch.
"Dammit, why?!" He said frustrated as he adjusted his jeans.
"So tell me about Economics. How's it like doing maths all day? Kayla asked, walking into the living room.
The conversation never got boring or awkward after that and 3 hours later, both Naruto and the party had been forgotten. She felt comfortable around Dennis or maybe she felt confident because she was in her own place, either ways she was having fun. Apparently somewhere during the night, new Makayla had taken over. Dennis had left for the night after they realized how late it was getting. They had made plans to meet the next day and as she accompanied him outside, he had hugged her unexpectedly. Kayla wasn't comfortable with physical touch. But she went with it. She wasn't about to risk ending a perfect evening with such an awkward incident.
Kayla really was doing a lot of things different than she normally would. She finally found her way to her phone as she prepared for bed after Dennis left. She had missed calls from Dennis, none from Olive and she was disappointed. If Liv hadn't found her at the party, why hadn't she called? Was it that Liv had never made it to the party to realize she wasn't there in the first place? If so why hadnt she called to let her know?
With such thoughts running through her mind, she had laid in bed waiting to hear Olive arrive. She called Olive's number several times after it was clear she wasn't coming back that night cos it wasn't night anymore. None of her calls had been answered and at 1:40 am, Kayla had gone to bed livid.
Olive was supposed to be the more responsible one between them so this behavior was strange. It had never happened before, Olive had never slept out neither had she ever refused to answer Kayla's calls. Yet again, Olive had never ignored Kayla since they started living together but she did earlier so Kayla didn't really didn't know what was happening.
Kayla was just going to have to wait till Olive came back home to find out what was wrong with her friend.
