"What the hell?!" I yelled at Andy who popped up behind me. "Where did you come from?" I asked him. I was already paranoid enough without him jumping out of nowhere, we were clear for the time being.

I guess I forgot to mention, we were in total hell!  And I'm not joking at all we were in the middle of a once beautiful city with tall building and flowers as bright as the sun now turned into a wasteland of filth and grim with crumbling buildings and dead weeds where the flowers once bloomed. We are some of the only few survivors since about a month ago when everything decided to go to hell. The scary part is that  random strangers once nice people that knew other people and had made good friends started attacking other people on the streets for no reason but pure hunger straight from the bottom pits of their stomach, some of them rotting to the bone or had flesh hanging off of them and didn't seem to notice or care for that matter, and nobody knew why or how to put a stop to things.

I was at my little light brown 4 bedroom home when Andy and Fay my childhood friends ran up to my door screaming and banging on the door for me too let them in quickly, saying that They were going to attack them too I had no idea what they were talking about and thought they were playing a joke on me or something which they seemed to do often, but I was way off on those terms. They were my practically my only family at the time while my parents were in Japan so I let them in immediately, wandering what the heck they were talking about. They told me to turn on the news fast, I did and saw something horrible and gut wrenching that is hard to put in words.

On my TV was the usually casual news reporter that was blood soaked and was being violently attacked by her fellow coworker, he appeared to be biting down on her neck and eating her flesh while she was still screaming and trying to push him off, he had glazed over white eyes and didn't seem to be paying attention to the screaming woman he was biting. There was blood spraying everywhere, and screaming, and of course the frantic people running everywhere not knowing where to go or what to do. Can't forget the people because they aren't smart enough to get into a isolated place or somewhere where there wasn't any of Them quick enough without getting bitten or trampled. We all know everybody has seen a zombie movie at least once, so you would at least think people would have a little bit more sense then to just freak out, NOPE.

I turned off the TV and got out my large stash of knives and my 9 millimeter glock I had stored in my little lock box, in the bottom of my closet. "Fay, machete or knife?" "Storm, you know I don't fight!" she replied. Fay and I were constantly fighting just to practice but she still thinks she can't fight or do much for that matter, she just doesn't think she can. "Does it look like I care,we all know you too well you can fight and you're going to have too, you are going to have to toughen up if you are going to survive this thing. You cant just sit back and watch we need to take action before things get even worse, and right now we are at stand still because we don't know how those Things out there act, so put on your big girl panties." "Fine I want a knife." she decided unsure of what to say.

We didn't want to leave or in that case do anything but we didn't really have a choice we needed to get away from my house and this was our only chance while we had one. If we waited any longer They would swarm my little house looking for ways to get in and all hell would break lose, and none of us wanted that to happen! "We need to get a move on it now!" I yelled at the pair who were arguing over what was really happening, I was guessing it was the zombie apocalypse. We grabbed some canned food and some extra clothes (Andy got my dad's, Fay got some of mine) and our weapons, stuffed and them into some extra backpacks I had. Andy got a good hold on my machete, I got my katana from the top of my closet, Fay had a large kitchen knife and we headed out of my front door.

Andy, Fay, and I headed out my front door with our only weapons, canned food, and extra clothes we had packed into our black and brown backpacks that I had just dug out. We were all prepared and paranoid for mostly anything we might face, but we weren't prepared for this. We knew we going to have to fight, live, and stay together that's all that mattered, and we knew that if we hesitated to kill any of Them that they would surely kill us first. We for now were the only people we could trust, we all knew we were going to be paranoid and sacred for a long time but we were for the time prepared (surprisingly). Although we were still worried about where our parents were and if they were okay, safe, and even alive.

My parents were in the capitol of Japan doing research on something I didn't care about,  something scientific I think, Fay's parents were about 50 miles away from my house working at the local power plant 'Net-con' together so we assumed they were somewhat safe, because you would think everyone would want to protect the electricity and all that good stuff. Andy's parents had never been there for him, they were always traveling so no one had any idea of their whereabouts and truthfully nobody really cared, they would only send money from time to time for him to survive off of. Both me and fay were worried but Andy just didn't seem to care, probably because his parents didn't care either, he just wanted to protect us and didn't care what happened to the rest. He was the one you read about in books, the father or brother like figure that loved us like sisters, and he was always there when no one else was. We were his only family.

Only the unfortunate thing about them coming to my house was that I lived right next to the local grocery store what fun! There were people running around, raiding the store and of course there was a mixture of Them attacking a large group of about 20 people tying to escape but failing. "Guys, this way before They get to close!" Andy yelled at both me and Fay. "Its time to slice and dice guys!" I yelled as a small group of about 5 of Them heading our way. "Time to start counting kills, Fay take out the one on the left, Andy the two on the right, I got the middle ones!" I yelled loud enough for them to hear me over the commotion.

All of Them looked sick and just... dead. I know it sounds ridiculous because they are zombies and all but there is almost no words for the sadness that overwhelmed us all just looking at Them. The one Fay was trying to stab had half of its face burnt away and the rest peeling away quickly. One of the two that Andy was jumping at looked just sick with its glazed over eyes and a slack jaw that looked like it had been cracked more than once with a blunt object, there was dried and new blood on his shirt, hands, and face he looked like he needed a bath. The other one looked completely normal  other than the bite mark on his left shoulder that was gushing blood, and the blood lust in his glazed over eyes. The first one I put down was a hefty lady that had many bites taken out of her stomach and thick meaty shoulders she almost knocked me out with. The other one of Them was a good looking man in his early twenties with a big bite taken out of his cheek leaving a gaping hole with bone, blood, and teeth showing caked with blood.

We all sprang into attack mode and took down the 5 closest Things, but more of them were spilling into my yard. "We need to get out of here and quick!" Andy yelled "I agree lets get into the woods and see what these things are made of." I replied quickly "Storm hurry They are closing in!" yelled Fay nervously "Okay guys i will lead in front and you two flower out behind me. Take down as many as you can,They aren't fast so you should be fine just clear a path and make a run for it." The Things started closing in as our adrenaline kicked in. They were slow but there was a bunch of them around 50 or 60 people mainly older people and we were almost stuck, we needed to move...now.
