The town was a gruesome sight but like I had stated earlier we had to keep moving through this, we couldn't afford to slow down or stop or They would be on top of us before we could even blink. In the distance we heard a older woman scream, it was the sound of a dying animal and it made all of our hairs stand on edge. All of us made sure to watch our footing and watch each others backs in case any of Them got close, we were paranoid enough without all of the torn apart and pieces of body and flesh hanging around in the streets.
We turned on to Maple Dr. were Fay's house and possibly parents awaited. There was a middle aged man coming towards us when Fay let out a screech and attracted the attention of a older one of Them that could well have been in the 80's with robe in shatters with blood streaked across it. Nobody wanted this to happen let alone we didn't want Alex to have to face these monsters. We only wanted this nightmare to end and quickly, but there was no way we could stop it. We just needed to focus and clear our minds all except for survival, Them, and our current goals, and that's exactly what we all did. Fay ran at the old woman in the blood soaked bathrobe with a vicious war cry and took off half of her head revealing blood and gore, but that didn't stop It, It came at Fay with a low growl and almost grabbed her but Fay was to quick, she lashed out at It again on the other side and sent the Things head rolling right to the other side of the curb. Andy was in a duel with the middle aged man that had Its guts starting to fall in a tangle down to his knees. It appeared to be quick but Andy was quicker, every time It tried to take a swing at Andy, he would duck and come but up behind It taking small slashes and almost playing with the Thing. "Hurry up Andy" I called out to him "We need to go quickly." I said holding Alex back behind me while Andy stuck the machete straight through the Things head. He came back over cleaning the large knife and grinning like a fool.
We all had to jog to make it to Fay's house without being noticed, we got past three of Them and ran into one but a sliced his head off with a single flick of my arm. When we arrived I hugged Fay and told her to be care full about going inside, she was shaking and really scared. Andy offered to go in first but Fay told him no that she needed to do this and see for herself. "It will be okay Fay! Even if you don't have your mommy and daddy you still have us right?" Alex asked Fay, "Yes sweetie I still have you guys, and I hope I always do." Fay replied wiping away a tear. "I'm ready..."
We opened the door that was unlocked of Fay's house and stepped into the cool air as if someone had left a window or two open. The entrance was wide and the hallway ended shorty after if began, but it was lined with family and old pet photos and smelled faintly of lavender. There was no sign that anyone was her as we entered. Andy closed the door behind him and put Alex on his shoulders so he could still fight if need be, but it almost seemed as no one was home. "Storm I'm scared, and I don't think that they are here." Fay sounded disappointed and I didn't blame her all the horrible and sad thoughts that I could only imagine were going through her head right now and I'm sure that she just wanted to get out of here but we needed supplies and to check to see if the rest of the house was safe. We went down the hall that opened up to the huge living room with two dark brown leather love seats and a light brown recliner. "Fay, why don't you go check out their room and see if you can find anything. Andy go look in the kitchen, and I will take Alex and look around in here for anything use full." I told everyone and they all headed out to explore the rest of the house.
Andy came back shortly after he went bringing cans and dried fruit by the bags. "Storm, they have the mother load of food here!" he said very excited "Awesome! Fit as much of it as you can into your bag and Fill mine up too if you don't mind." I replied putting a long strand of my red hair behind my ear. "Yeah, I got it,wheres Fay at, shouln't she be done by now?" I agreed "Hey watch Alex or get him to help you out, I'm going to go make sure shes safe." I replied. I was worried she should have done a sweep of the room and came to tell us if it was safe, or screamed if it wasen't. As I entered the dark room all I could see was my katana right in front of me. I yelled at Andy to throw me a flashlight and I had one tossed at me from the dark. I looked around the clear room, there was a king sized bed with a white blanket on the to that was stained red with blood, on the bed lay the bodies of Fay's parents holding hands. Her father was holding a gun in his right hand from where it appeared that he committed suicide with his wife. I didn't see where Fay was but I knew this was going to be really hard on her, and this was something she woulden't be able to forget very easily. I looked around in the bathroom to see if that was where Fay was but she was no where in there either, I did on the other hand find the gun safe along with the code lying out in the open, which was a blessing. I continued to snoop around in the bathroom for anything use full when I heard a muffled cry coming from the other side of the bed that I haden't gotten to yet. On the other side of the bed, on the floor, lay Fay crying her eyes out and holding a note in her left hand, and I didn't blame her for crying like she was it was horrible what she was seeing right now and I couldn't imagine what she was going through. "Fay its me Storm... are okay?" It was a stupid question because I knew that she wasen't okay, she was dying inside but I didn't know anything else to say.
"Come on you don't need to be in here anymore, lets go into the living room." As a held her shoulders while she cried we exited the room into the big living area. Andy and Alex were waiting for us whenever we were ready. "I'm sorry Fay, I miss my parents too..." little Alex said to Fay as he came to hug her. "I will be fine sweety, it will be okay." was her quick and only reply. We had planned to stay the night in the house after we gave Fay's parents a proper burial. We had also stocked our backpacks with canned food, snack bars, water, and some extra guns. Fay pointed out where the extra clothes and blankets were kept so we would sleep well that night. It was a sad and long day and we had all grown very exhausted. We all agreed it was time to hit the sack, Fay and I slept in her room and the two boys slept on the couch with a pile of blankets.
"Goodnight." we all said to each other as we slowly drifted to sleep after the long day. Hopefully it would be a good and quiet one.
