The next day after Fay and Andy woke up from their well needed sleep, we tossed around some cans of peaches. Andy missed one of the cans and it fell from the top of the tree to smack one of Them in the head. It made enough of an impact to actually kill it though so we started our minds up and got some new ideas of how to get out of the trees. Andy originally suggested it and we started to throw our cans all Them and they started dropping to the ground like thick rocks, their body's looked like they weighed a ton when They fell. We threw the cans until we were out and there was only about 3 of Them left then we all exchanged looks are we dropped from the trees quietly and took out they three with a look of surprise on their blank face,
We got our cans that had taken out at least 15 of Them and stuffed them into our packs and headed out again, watching each others backs closely, we moved almost silently through the woods until we reached the edge of the small river that had been there forever. It looked as if a big battle had been fought here, one that had ended badly. There were at least 50 bodies of both humans and zombies, the humans were torn to pieces from Them and They seemed to be actually dead this time, or at least we hoped. Most of the bodies were humans so it looked as if They and won this battle to the death. We were sure many humans had turned into more of Them too seeing what we had it only took a bite small or big either way only a blow to the head could kill them. Back when we first fought Them, before we got into the woods Fay had tried to stab one through the heart with her knife, but it only fought harder than it did before. I saw her and went for the head and it dropped like lead. Some of the only humans that didn't get up didn't seem to have anything wrong with their heads but as we got closer we saw that They were turned but they had spinal damage or in some cases had their neck snapped, a few rare ones had the back of their knees cut wide open and were crawling towards us.
We walked our way across the river hoping that none of Them could swim or worse that They would pop out of the water and make us even more jumpy. As soon as we all got out of the blood tinted water we started to head towards the woods only to find a small girl laying at the base of a big elm tree. The little girl looked about five or six years old and none of us wanted to get close enough to see if she was dead or not, "What should we do? We can't leave her if shes not dead, she will die!" Fay asked me "We have too find out if she's de-" As if to answer the little girl stood up from her resting place with a soft muffled moan and lunged at Andy who threw her aside and stuck his machete between the Things eyes."does that answer your question?" The little girl was bitten on her foot, we guessed it had happen sometime last night and it was just being lazy and waiting for its food to come to it.
We stepped carefully around many bodies hidden away in the woods and managed to run into quite a few of Them that we had to put down. There were all different types of Them including what once were children and elderly people, that made all of us cringe when we dealt the final blow. It was a horrible site, all the bodies some that you couldn't even recognize. A little boy managed to creep up behind Fay when we let our guard down for once and put his hand on her back, he wasn't one of Them and he had the strangest look of confusion on his face like he was surprised at us for being here.
"Who are you?" he asked with confusion. "I'm Storm, he is Andy, and that girl over there is Fay." I replied gesturing to the pair beside me watching my back. "And who would you be, do you have anyone with you it's dangerous out here in the open." " My names Alex, and nope it's just me and my little sister, she fell asleep last night and she hasn't woke up, but she will i'm sure of it!" He replied pointing to a figure slumped against a nearby tree. I told Andy to watch the little boy Alex for a moment while I went to see what was wrong with the little girl. As I got closer I could see the little girl was around three years old and looked injured. When I was near her I could see she had a small bite mark on her bare foot and realized she wasn't going to ever wake up or if she did she was going to turn into another one of Them. I yelled for Fay to come over and quickly, she ran over and saw the small child. I didn't know what to do or say in that case so I asked her, "What should we do with her, and what should we tell Alex?" "I think we should just make sure she won't come back and bury her, I would tell him that she is dead and that there was nothing that we could do to stop it." I agreed with Fay and I put the tip of her knife into the back of her neck and pushed. We buried her quickly but good under the soft layer of earth and went back to Alex and Andy.
