He looked at her from across the room wondering how they got to where they are now. It seemed like just yesterday they were laughing and now they were the perfect strangers. He would give anything to be the one to make her smile, to laugh, to see her cry; just to be the one to dry her tears. He would do anything just to be in her life again, but he fucked up. He cut her short when she needed him the most. When she needed him there for the abuse, the pain, self hate, the disappointment. She needed for all of that and he walked away from her out stretched hands reaching out for him. He closed his arms when knowing she seeked comfort from them.

Looking down in shame he wiped the tears that were sitting in his eyes waiting for the command to be released. He was filled with sorrow that came with knowing he failed her. He failed her and the promises he made. Promises. They mean nothing if they are never fulfilled, never completed. They are empty words, empty declarations to the world. Empty words that had such meaning, but now mean nothing.

Glancing back up he noticed the room was empty. Not of people or objects, but empty of meaning. He was the only person sitting by himself, wanting solitude. Deserving it, craving it. He wanted to get up and leave then room but he knew that he couldn’t. Not when she was so close to him, closer than she has been in days. He listened to everything around him but knew as well as the noise that it fell on deaf ears.

He observed everything around him, he couldn’t look at her peaceful face knowing he didn’t cause it to be there. He was looking around him so much he didn’t notice that someone was sitting next to him until he looked in their direction. And the tears flowed down his eyes. She was sitting there right next to him smiling at him the smile she always had when looking in his eyes

Glowing gray eyes locked in on his dull brown ones and a frown was put on her face. She placed her hand lightly on his cheek and whispered "I forgive you" and that’s what broke the damn.

"You do?" he sobbed quietly hoping no one would hear him

"Of course I do, I will and would always forgive you" and with that she got up and walked away but before she could disappear she turned around one more time and said "I love you" and blew him a kiss and walked away disappearing from his life for good.

He got up and looked at her down the aisle laying peacefully in her own little wooden bubble from the world and walked out of the church with a light heart and heavy eyes knowing that just because she had forgiven him that he hasn’t forgiven himself for digging her own grave.
