~Vic's POV~

"Vic, get your gay ass down here!" Mama Fuentes yelled from downstairs.

I came downstairs to find out what she was yelling about this time. As I walked into the kitchen i found my belongings scattered over the floor and my backpack thrown in the corner. I gathered my things and grabbed my notebook and began running upstairs where I knew I could be alone.

"I wish i could just get out of here already." I mumbled to myself.

I walk to my bathroom and shuffle through my drawer to find my precious shiny piece of metal. I grab it with careful hands and begin sliding it across my thighs leaving crimson blood dripping down my leg. Relief fills my body as I set the blade back in my drawer. I wipe away stray blood and return to my room. Pillows may be for laying your head on, but mine are for tears.

~next day~

The mornings where you wake up to hearing your brother getting slapped by your drunken mother are never quite enjoyable.

"Hey, Mike, are you okay?" I yell down the hallway

"Yeah, I'm fine... like always" The younger sibling replies.

My mothers alcohol addiction has worsened in the past two years. My father left when i was 4, but my mother found a boyfriend that was good for her soon after. Although it turns out he was cheating on her for the past 7 months and my mother wanted nothing more then for him to leave us alone. We used to have a stable way of living, but ever since mom had lost her job everything had gone downhill.

Its just about 7:30 and that means another day of high school. I head down the stairs attempting to say goodbye to my mother but all i get in return is her hand colliding with my cheek. I grab my face in pain and head out the door. The cold air shocks my body but gets used to it within seconds. I start my car and turn the heater on. As I speed down the road Sykes high school is now in sight and I can already tell this isn't going to be a good day.
