Did Yume want Christmas this year to be white Christmas? Did she want to celebrate Christmas?
No one had the answer to that question.
Throughout the whole week, she's been staring at her phone, as if trying to manifest something out into the real world. But no matter how hard Yume stared at her screen, she didn't receive any reply or response from Subaru.
Also he didn't reply, as to whether he read the message, he most definitely did. That was all that mattered for Yume, that he knew that she would be waiting for him on Christmas' Eve. She didn't feel angry or annoyed that Subaru didn't reply to her message, since the whole reason why they were keeping a distance from each other was because of her.
I was the one who wanted the distance.
If anyone else knew about their situation, they would ask as to why didn't make up just yet. But even though they didn't tell each other, they had the same thing on their mind.
"I don't deserve to hear anything from him/her if I don't find the true answer to my problems."
Human nature was weird, they know and they can differentiate from right or wrong. So what was it that drove humans to commit the wrong action? Why was it that they thought that doing the wrong action would earn them something good? Why was it that even if they knew it was wrong and they wouldn't gain anything, they would still do it?
Why couldn't they just follow how they felt, and be honest with themselves?
They had their answers in the mind, it didn't matter how deep within their minds it was. It was something they could control, if they wished so, they would have their answers whenever they wanted.
But that's how everyone learns. They make mistakes, and they learn from it.
Yume ultimately decided to give herself one week to sort out her thoughts. Thoughts like how she felt towards Subaru, or to think of reasons as to why Subaru would decide to leave without saying anything.
However, time wasn't going to wait for any man, or woman.
Christmas was around the corner and it only processed when Yume read her own message, seeing the two words 'Christmas' Eve' almost made her scream in her own room. Probably loud enough to alert every single human being within a 20 metre radius.
I haven't bought any presents!
How did I even forget about Christmas when I typed it in my own message...
Stupid, you stupid!
As much as she wanted to run out of the campus right now to do some Christmas shopping, it was night time, so she had to wait until morning. She had a few days left to purchase the gifts and wrap them, and a few days wasn't a lot when it comes down to buying gifts.
The next day, as soon as she woke up and the shops were open, she left the dorm and went shopping. Although she spent her next week going in and out of the dorm, bringing in different presents, she was quite happy with the experience.
However, she would've at least wanted some more 'me' time to sort her thoughts out. Nonetheless, the week flew by while she was wrapping her presents and was trying to figure out how she was going to talk to Subaru.
Sooner than she expected, she found herself outside on the balcony ten minutes before the meet-up time. She turned on her phone to see the time, 11.20P.M, shown on the screen. She saw a puff of white air coming out of her the moment she let out a sigh, the fact that it was winter has finally shown itself.
She stood outside on the balcony with a pink hoodie on with her pajama pants, she felt cold but it was at least tolerable. Yume knew she didn't have to wait for Subaru and just go back to her warm room until it was 11.30P.M, but she just felt the need to do this. There wasn't an explanation for it, it was just the way it is.
