I am currently sitting on my bed, staring into space thinking about the next thing that could occur in my life. If you haven't already guessed, I'm slightly no scratch that EXTREMELY bored right now! What if a burglar suddenly jumped through my window, what if there was a dead cat under my bed, what if-
"SKY COME AND GET YOUR LUNCH BABE" my thoughts are interrupted by my excitable mother shouting her mouth off at me from downstairs.
Normal people would just calmly walk up the stairs and calmly tell me that lunch was ready...but no, not my mother.

I race down the stairs taking small steps as I go as per usual, I don't really know why I have to act like a whole tribe out of a zombie apocalypse is chasing after me 24/7.
"Hi doll!" my mum cheerfully greets me.
"Hey mum" I reply sounding slightly less excited.
"Are you alright babe you sound a bit down in the dumps"
"Yeah mum I'm fine, just the usual Sunday blues"
"I know babe, I know"
A small smile appears on my lips letting her know that I appreciate her understanding.

You may also notice that my mum(Amy) says 'babe' or 'doll' quite a lot which is just normal for her and to be honest I've gotten used to it even though she says it in almost everything she says and it gets quite irritating! I suppose you could say my mum is one of the cool or trendy mums that you see walking around. She is quite young and still acts like
it which is quite nice for me because she understands me a lot more. I adore my mum and look up to her, I love going out in public with her because she is one of those people that other kids will look at and say 'wow I wish my mum was like her.' She walks around wearing her Armani ripped jeans, Gucci crop tops, Nike trainers and her Louis Vuitton bag. See what I mean now? The reason she acts young and trendy is because she is
young.

She had me when she was 16 and missed out on most of her childhood, my dad left because he was an abusive idiot who wanted nothing to do with me when my mum told him she was pregnant. She was alone and didn't know what to do, I couldn't even bear to think how that must feel. My nan disowned her when she found out she got pregnant at such a young age but it was an accident. She got through it though and got a small job at the diner. She finally made enough money to rent a small flat for us, she wouldn't give up on me. She got a better job and started to make more money and bought our council house and here we are now, 18 years later and my mum being 34. I'm doing okay, I always will be as long as my mum is with me.

I look down at the locket she got me for my 16th Birthday and smile. Inside it is a picture of me and her when I was 6, and on the front it says 'I'm always with you Sky, Mum x' I love it so much and it is the most sentimental and precious thing I own.
"Your lunch is there hun" mum tells me and points to it on the kitchen island.
I pace over and see a rose gold tray with a cheese and ham panini and a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. Mum is so good to me.
"Thank you so much Mum!"
"No need to thank me babe, it's my job and I enjoy looking after you"
I smile brightly at her kindness and give her a big hug before I take my tray to my room and relax onto my bed. I pick up the remote control and start watching 'Little Britain' on Netflix, I can't help but laugh at this show. I am happily tucking in to my panini when I hear someone knocking firmly continuously on the door.

My eyes widen with fear and I pause Little Britain and place the tray of food onto my bed. The knocking doesn't stop as I carefully tiptoe down the stairs making sure the floor doesn't creak.
"Mum!" I whisper shout.
Her head pops up from behind the kitchen island and she motions for me to go over. I carefully tiptoe over there and duck behind the island next to my mum.
"What's going on?" I whisper.
"I-I think your um d-dad might be um at the door Sky"
My jaw drops in shock.
"Is he dangerous?"
"Well, he um he hit me before"
Her eyes turn glassy from the tears filling them.
"You need to get away from here babe"
"No mum I can't leave you!"
"Sky please"
She holds both of my hands in hers.
"You will always have the locket to remind you of me and if I don't see you again I-"
"No don't say that"
"Babe listen to me"
Tears silently stream down my cheeks and drop onto the hard floor.
"If I don't see you again, I love you and I will always be with you no matter what okay?"
She places her hand on the side of my cheek and wraps her arms around me, I can hear her sobbing.
"No mum please no"
"Now go okay, I need you to be safe Sky"
She pulls a stack of money out of the back pocket of her jeans and it looks like about £10,000.
"Mum! Where did you get that amount of money from?!"
"It's money I've been saving for when your older but I think you need it now"
She hands the money to me.
"Keep it safe and keep yourself safe"
"That should be enough for somewhere to live and everything else you need"
"Now go"
" I love you Sky"
"I love you mum"
"Goodbye babe"
"Goodbye"
All of a sudden, the door is kicked in and a tall figure walks in.
"GO!" Mum yells.
I set off out of the back door and don't stop running.
