I'll stay high,
I ain't coming down for no reason,
I'll be reading my word,
I ain't coming down for no sinning,
While I'm praying to my God
I ain't coming down for nobody,
No I'll just stay high.-JONATHAN MCREYNOLDS.
Ever been in a situation where you're growing spiritually, overcoming barriers, that moment when you know that this is a move and you think you're all right in Christ, you've been living by the rules. Then all of a sudden you're being tempted but you're confident you can handle it yet before you realize it you've failed. And it all starts falling apart whether in secret or not. Well I have and that's what led me to the title. Christianity And Perfection.
Now your first instinct would be to stay away, and like Adam and Eve hide from the Lord because of the shame of having disobeyed him. You begin to feel ashamed, impure, worthless and sad.
I mean let's be real frank here, Jonathan says it all, it's been tattooed in our minds : you have to stay high and always know and do what's right, cause you're a Christian, a God-girl. It's been said so many times that somewhere along the lines we pick it up and start to act it out and we actually try to be perfect, even the world sees us that way.
That's just what the devil wants us to think; you have disobeyed your father so it's the end of the line for you. He wants to keep you in the pool of misery till you've drowned, cause he knows what will happen once you shake of the dust.
But u don't always have to know what to do, that's for the spirit that lives in you, what about when you drown out the voice of the spirit? Just one simple thing, GRACE.
"But he said to me ,'my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness"
2 Corinthians 12 : 9It says it all, my grace is sufficient, the grace that abounds for many is enough, for your cheating, that lie you told when when you knew you shouldn't have, the porn you just wanted to have a look at, all of it and more. Further on it continues ," my power is made perfect in your weakness". You see even God realizes that you have weaknesses and with you in mind he made provisions, perfect ones too such that where we are weak he is strong.
You might be wondering , after all I have done, knowing the good and not doing it why would God in all that he is still want me?
Aha! That's where love comes in, sweeping you off your feet.
"In this love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins."
1 John 4 : 12.And I say why not? If he loved us enough to give up his only son when we didn't even care about him, why wouldn't he love us now that we're trying to the best for him and love him back. Okay, okay I'm slowing down phew.
Let's go back to when Jesus was being arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, one of his disciples cut off the ear of a soldier which was wrong, but Jesus rebuked him and corrected his mistake. Even Peter, who became great denied Jesus not once but three times yet they are still apostles. You'd think that they being closest to Jesus would know that these things were wrong and even though the Bible says that we have overcome, they were overcome by these things. Wanna know why? God was trying to tell them they were slacking and overconfident, he was reminding them that they aren't perfect and he really doesn't expect them to be perfect. And it's the only way they would have listened, I mean take Peter for example, he was actually warned by Jesus but he brushed it off thinking he was okay and rooted enough when actually he was just beginning the journey.
The bottom line of all this is that, being a Christian doesn't mean you won't make mistakes, it just means those mistakes don't matter to God. God says "I know the plans I have for you." and he already knows the plans all the mistakes you'll make. Like yeah, he knows the future. It's okay when they call you a "goody two shoes" or tell you "you think you're better than them" cause I can assure you they will. But don't expect yourself to be perfect cause if you were, Christ wouldn't have died on that cross. So I say it's okay when u fail even though you're trying so hard, your mistakes make u human but overcoming those mistakes is what defines you as a Christian. So continue to be the light, God hasn't left you, he never will.
Shine bright, admit you're wrong sometimes and just let God lead.

There's a misconception
That temptation won't affect us
At all, at all, at all
But just like anyone else
If I let it get my heart
I'll fall, I'll fall, I'll fallAnd I can't act like I don't know how
Yeah, I beat myself up about it nowBut tomorrow I'll just do
Better, better, better
Better, better, better
And keep on moving
Closer, closer, closer
You know that all is forgiven
Because He'll help you to do better.
