Tulip POV

"I already said it!" I said a bit louder than intended, " You're not a baby.. " I said. "Say the truth, you think I'm an undeveloped idiot.." Vixon mumbled. "but I don't! I like that you have no wings, it makes you different! " I said.

"Liar"

I put my hand on the back of Vixon's head, her close cut hair in between my fingers, "anyone who thinks that is the most stupid person I have ever met." I said. " Well then, everyone in this world is stupid. " Vixon said.

We were cut off by Leena and her friends walking over to us, "oh, seems the whore doesn't discriminate genders, hmm?" Her friends laughed, "what do you want.. " I said. Leena narrowed her eyes, "I wasn't talking to you," she continued, "I was just getting a closer look at... This" she pointed at Vixon and leaned over to her. "Aren't you a bit to young for a relationship?" I felt my eye twitch "shut up, Leena, I'm not dating her, plus, she the same age as you! " I yelled. "Then where's her wings, huh? Only BABIES have no wings." I stayed silent. "Yeah, that's what I thought." Leena said as she walked away.

"I'm so sorry, I-" I was interrupted by Vixon, "no, they are right, so stop trying to say otherwise." She barked back.

My ears fell back, "o- ok.." I mumbled. I soon felt myself lead my hands to my pearl ring, swiveling it around and around my finger, this is what I did when I was stressed or bored in any way.

The bell rang, I never got up. I waited for everyone to leave. I didn't want the teacher to be suspecting, so I pretended like I was getting my stuff.

At the end of the day, it was an empty school at night. It was all mine. Unlike everyone here, I had no place to go when the day was over. I pretended to leave with the others, but at the last second I'd stay, wait till they locked the doors, and go to the language classroom.

I know what your thinking, why don't you have a house? Well, I used to, but then again, I also used to have a mom and dad.

It all started when I was in the third grade, and everything was perfect, I had both my parents, we were all happy, but one day, there was a forest fire that spread to our house. It was at night, so we were all sleeping when it happened. The only reason why I survived, was because my mom woke at just the right time to get me. She gave me this ring, just in case if she didn't make it, because she was going in for my dad. She didn't know that he was already dead. I went to my uncle's house after that, but he wasn't nice. He'd make me do everything or he'd take my ring away and put me up for adoption.

My uncle would have parties all night, and get drunk with 'his girls'. I could never get any sleep. It all bundled up, and I ran away, secretly attending schools. When I got to middle and high school, it got easier to hide; They turned off security cameras at night, and locker rooms had showers.

Now I'm a sophomore, and I am curled up under the language teacher desk, watching Employ.
