The Two and the One

Two ships came, both apart
One was old and one was dark
Come to protect those they love,
One for themselves and one for her.

Guided they were into the black
Through stars that would be blocked.
Chasing, always, to the end
Of everything known to exist;

In they go, against the storm,
To face the one they must destroy.
Together now, and never apart.

Two ships can, but one did leave,
One to stay for all eternity.
Its pilot now lost to all-
Two ships came, but only one left.
