Monologue: Dear Bird

What is it that you say, dear bird?
You have a sweet chirp, I've heard.
Stay here with me, don't fly away.
I want to hear what you're going to say.

The way that you perch on that gentle branch,
Makes me question, will you perch on my hand?
I want to touch your soft tanned feathers.
But will my gentle soft touch ever matter?

Nothing else matters when you chirp and sing
For the world will stop from the song you bring.
Tonight you will perform your concert
Ears will be lent from the entire Earth.

What is it that you say?
What lyrics do you play
That you make us so eager to stay?
