Finals are coming up and you know what that means.
You are stressed.
Your peers are stressed.
You want to sleep.
Everyone wants to knock themselves out.Your criminology lecture had just ended and you find yourself in the campus library searching for an empty spot somewhere - anywhere - just so that you can sit and knuckle down on your note-taking. You stare around, looking high and low. There are hardly even any valid spots to sit on the ground without obstructing anyone else making their way around. All around you are the sounds of students typing away at their laptops and scribbling of pens and pencils against paper.
You're about to give up and just head back to your dorm room until you see a group of students start to pack their things and leave. You quirk up and steadily make your way over to the table, but so do another group of girls who seem to be about your age. You're not sure they've noticed you yet but you make an effort to sneak in a spot before they can claim the entire table for themselves. You rush over and place your books down right before the other three girls do. 'God, I'm getting quite unfit if that tiny power-walk made me huff.'
You make eye contact with the three girls, recognising one of them, instantly perking you up. "Oh, Jisoo! I didn't see you at the lecture today. I didn't think you were here."
"Y/N, hey! Yeah, I wasn't feeling that well this morning but I'm okay now." The four of you all settle down. With four out of six seats taken, you're left with an empty spot beside you and the other is occupied by an extra bag that doesn't seem to belong to any of the three girls you're sharing a table with. Jisoo introduces you to her friends, Jennie and Lisa. You all indulge each other with a bit of small talk before cracking open your textbooks and laptops. With the sheer volume of books beside Jisoo, you find it hard to believe that she's going to be going through it all on her own.
You're definitely not blind to the fact that Jisoo and her friends are all extremely attractive. You suppose it is somewhat true; that the attractive tend to band together — the cheerleader effect some may call it — whether they realise it or not. About an hour or so passes and you're slightly distracted by the commotion that has appeared before the table, on Jisoo's side specifically. "Jisoo-unnie, your stuff is all over the place." You do your best to focus on the notes you're writing down but you can't help but think about how pure the voice above you sounds. 'Another one of Jisoo's friends? Must be another attractive girl.'
"There's a spot next to my friend Y/N." At the mention of your name, you look up slightly to be met with Jisoo's eyes. "Would that be okay, Y/N/N?"
"Oh! Yeah, it's no–" You continue up and are met face-to-face with probably one of the most stunning women you'd ever laid eyes on. "–uh, no problem at all!" She gives you a thankful smile and gets comfortable in her seat. You try so hard to focus but your eyes can't help but trail over to her side profile every moment you can get as discreetly as you can be. You spot her turn her head towards you, catching you mid-stare, and yet you can't seem to tear your eyes away no matter how embarrassed you are at that very moment – and you're glad you didn't; she stared right back at you and smiled as you see her cheeks begin to redden slightly.
'Is she really blushing right now?'
You give her a small, shy smile before turning back towards your book. Now she takes her turn to admire your side profile. She thinks that it's adorable. Hours pass of your casual exchanges of admiration between your self-given breaks. Lisa is the first to leave, followed by Jennie, leaving you with Jisoo and her friend whose name still remains a mystery to you. The clock is about to strike, signalling the closure of the university library for the day. "Okay, everyone! Library's closing, time to start heading out!" You huff out a breath, watching as other students hastily pack their belongings either into their bags or just scooping everything into their arms and scurrying off — which you found a little peculiar.
It doesn't actually click in your mind that you're about to part ways from Jisoo and her friend — which of whom you now also realised remained nameless to you — and you didn't want to leave without getting to know her better. You look up from your three-quarter packed bag and notice that they're having a conversation with each other, bags hanging off their shoulders and water bottle in hand. Seeming like they're about to say bye to you and leave, you quickly try to come up with an excuse to see them for longer, until—
"Hey Y/N, do you wanna come and get a bite to eat with us?" You look up from your bag to see the two beautiful girls looking at you, waiting for a response. You reply almost too quickly with a sharp nod after making eye contact with her friend; but again, it seems to work in your favour as you see a slight redness appear on her cheeks, causing your cheeks to heat up as well. Without removing your gaze from her, you pick up your bag by its' strap to lift it up over your shoulder to leave with them.
"Where do you both want to go?" After waiting and waiting, you see Jisoo start to laugh and the mysterious girl cover her face with an equally beautiful hand as she attempts to bite back laughter. "What happened?" Jisoo points down to the floor, and without even looking, you suddenly realise how light your backpack suddenly feels. Embarrassment completely floods your body now seeing as your haste to leave with the girls was much too much. You hide behind your hands as you slowly turn and kneel to pick up your books.
"Well, at least your laptop decided to stay put." Looking to your side, you see her helping you pack the bag that has slumped onto the ground. Doing your best to avoid cliches, you open up your bag a little wider for the books in her hands to slip in with ease.
"That's true," standing up and situating beside a still chuckling Jisoo, you thank the girl for her help but are stumped cause you don't know what to address her by. "Thanks... um..."
"Her name is Roseanne—"
"Or you could just call me yours," your eyes widen and Jisoo's mouth falls agape. She's never known Rosé to be that upfront with her attraction to anyone before, let alone be the first to make a move. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said—"
"If you're mine then you won't mind me taking you out for dinner, right?" Your face is still burning but it settles slightly as you try to cover up her sudden shyness with a bold move of your own. Jisoo just stares at you both, darting her eyes back and forth with a dumbfound look on her face.
'What the hell is going on with these two?!' To her knowledge, she has never seen or even heard of either of you being so bold and upfront with your feelings. Rosé smiles warmly at you, seemingly letting down some walls of defences at your immediate interruption of her embarrassment-induced ramble. "I'd love to go out to dinner with you, Y/N."
"Okay, well, I'm actually gonna go and catch up with Jennie now so you both go and have a good time. Chaeng, I'll see you at Lisa's this weekend? And Y/N/N, I'll see you in class on Friday?" Both giving her a nod, she struts off toward the exit, leaving you both behind.
You and Rosé look at each other, letting the silence and slight awkwardness surround you. "Ladies, the library is closed!"
"Oh, right! Sorry!" Scurrying off, you look around you to see that you're both the only students that are actually left in the facility. And that librarian really looked like she's had enough of everyone today.
"Wow, she must've been bothered by a lot of people today, huh?"
"Yeah, no doubt," As the two of you make your way past the exit, an instant, refreshing breeze hits you both, urging you to let out a satisfied breath. "So, Roseanne—"
"You can just call me—"
"Yours?" You smirk as she smacks your arm gently.
"Smart mouth. I was going to say you can also just call me Rosé."
"You definitely are a fine wine. You probably age just as well. Am I going to get to see it?"
You both share a light laugh, walking towards the CBD where all the food stalls were. "Let's see how dinner goes first, Y/N."
For the rest of the night, you spend your time not only getting to know Rosé but also admiring her bright and bubbly and downright adorable personality. Do you believe in love at first sight? No. But this was definitely attraction at first sight and you certainly want to explore where this could go.
