"why do you like listening to songs so much?"
carter turned to the girl beside her. her nose was tainted red from the cold, and suddenly he had the urge to pinch it softly. she normally wasn't the one to start the conversation and carter was amazed at how she spoke bravely nonetheless.
her lips protruded at the anticipation of his answer.
"i guess music just calms me in the same way the snow could."
she blinked and gazed at the window with disdain, where the snowflakes fell and danced. "oh. right, i almost forgot you liked the snow so much."
carter laughed softly. "why are you staring at the snow like that?"
"i just don't know why you would like it so much. it brings so much cold and it's just plain and blank and white..."
carter stared at her as she continued to ramble on and on about the cold. her cheeks were puffed and her eyes held so much unknown brightness to which carter could never fathom how they could hold something so precious. she was a spectacle of color and light in this time of year -- and that was why carter had begun to love winter.
