After a walking for a long time, I finally find something. After climbing on top of some sort of naturally created mound I find a wide black thing. It is really long and I can't see where it ends anywhere. It also has two yellow lines going through the middle of it. It's got these large metal things of many different colors along the edges of this thing. The large metal things also seem to have some sort cylindrical items underneath them. There looks to be people on this wide black thing. Maybe they can help me.
I stumble down to the pitch black pathway. None of the people pay me any mind. Something seems off about the people. They are all really quiet and . . . pale. Paler than pale. Those who aren't as pale because of their usual skin color are just as odd, though. They're slow and look . . . dead. They all look dead. These aren't people, or at least they aren't now. They've become the monsters from the lab.
My hunch was right. One of the monsters had escaped from the lab and got to the people of this city.
My eyes go wide and I back away slowly. There is a chance the people won't hurt me but just to be safe, I want to get out of here as soon as possible. Better safe than sorry.
I stop backing away and start running. I run as fast as my legs will take me. There has to be normal people somewhere. They can't all be monsters. I just need to keep running and maybe I'll find some.

After a lot of running along the black thing. I make it to what I can only assume is the residential area. There is only more monsters and corpses. I spot one body with a wooden bat, at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is. This person must have put up quite the fight. The body belongs to a teenage boy. He has a bite mark on his right arm and a bullet wound in his chest. Maybe his friends knew he was a goner and put him out of his misery. Or maybe they knew he was going to become a monster and decided to get rid of him to save themselves.
Either way his weapon is now mine. Sorry, but somebody had to take. I don't know why anybody would leave it behind. Really, it's a waste.
Monsters are all around me but none of them are attacking me. It's odd. Maybe I don't have to run after all.

I walked the rest of the way to the city. I got there in one peice, despite being surrounded by monsters. The entire downtown area is in shambles. I think this is what you call a downtown area. Anyway, many buildings are either boarded up or have broken windows. I pick a building that looks like it was about to be but didn't get boarded up and walk in. The place looks like the lab but more rustic and lit up. By this I mean it is has a little blood on the floor and a gloomy feel to it. On a table are some boards, some nails, and a hammer. I really was about to be boarded up.
I look down at the wooden bat in my hand. Then I get a great idea.
The nails are in a box so I pour them out onto the table. I push the boards onto the floor and put my bat onto the table. Carefully, I hammered the nails into the wooden bat. I hammered the nails in as far as they would go. Luckily they were long enough and went all the way through the bat.
When I feel like I have put in enough nails, I picked up the bat and admired my work. This'll work nicely. A classic spiked bat. Don't why I thought of this or where the idea came from, but it seems like a good weapon.
I sit down on the floor in front of the table and take off my backpack. I look through it to see what I had grabbed again. There are bandages, bottles of water, a blanket, a gun that is useless in my possession, and a battery powered lantern. I open up another, smaller pocket to see my stationary is still there.
I hear a loud noise come from outside the building. I put mmy backpack back on a move slowly towards the door. I sit down underneath the window, back to the wall. I hear voices.
"We need to refill the gas tank."
"There are some jerry cans in the trunk."
"Hurry! There's zombies everywhere!"
Zombies? What's that? I've never heard if one. Are they talking about the monsters?
"You fill the tank while I cover you."
I turn around and take a peek through the window. I dont let much of my face show. Just enough that my eyes would be the only thing visible from the other side of the window. I see one of those big metal things sitting in front of the building. There are two people on next to it. One is a woman holding an assault rifle and the other is a man holding something red. I can't get a good look at what the thing he's holding is because he's facing the large metal thing.
I look to the right of them and see a monster walking towards the two of the them. The woman shoots it. Another one comes right after that one, but while she's taking aim at that monster, I notice one coming from the other side. Neither of them see it.
I dont want them to get hurt. I don't want anybody to get hurt. I hold the bat tightly in one hand. I spring upwards and swing the door open. I catch the woman by surprise. Fortunately, she didn't turn around and shoot me because I startled her. I hit the monster as hard as I could with my spiked bat. The monster fell to the ground. I'm not completely sure if it's dead, so I hit a couple more times to make sure.
I look over to see the two people staring at me. I wave at them before turning around to bash some more of these monsters' heads in.
I found people and now I must help them.
