Leondre was sitting in the royal tower of Eclipse Town, the new King of the Hatteran Kingdom. His father had recently passed, and he had the right to the throne. He had taken it eagerly, excited to have the highest position of authority. His coronation had been the day before, and it was now his first day as the King. He couldn't wait to pursue his life-long vision of uniting the four kingdoms, and now all under his own rule.
One of his servants knocked quickly on the door.
"You can come in," Leondre said.
The girl, Aila, entered. "Sir," she quickly bowed, "a mysterious object has washed up from the shore. I wouldn't usually bother you with something like this, but I think that you might like it." She handed him a wooden box.
Reluctantly, Leondre began opening it to reveal a shining orb- a gem of some sort. However, it looked like none of the crystals fixed upon his crown. "You can go," he said, and the petite woman quickly left, shutting the door behind her.
He gingerly removed the smooth round crystal from the box, which he set aside. He stared into the captivating object- though he thought of less of an object the longer he looked at it. It seemed alive. Within, there were small lights swirling around each other. Their dance was beautiful. It was as if he were in a dream world; they were so abstract.
After a moment of gazing into the lights, his thoughts began feeling overwhelmed. Other thoughts and emotions, seemingly coming from elsewhere, were drowning him. For a few moments, he could do nothing but feel the different notions fill his conscious.
Suddenly, it felt as if there were another brain in his- or perhaps several others... tons of others. Words began to form in his mind, and a mental voice asked, Who are you, Soulseeker?
"S-soul seeker...?" Leondre sputtered, unsure of what was going on. Was he dreaming? He must have been dreaming. Nothing was making any sense.
You sought us out; you are Soulseeker, the voice again sounded, yet he knew that there was nothing to hear. It was all in his head, but how?
"How did I seek you out?" He asked meekly.
Your mind was looking for ours. And, don't you know that you can think your words, and we can hear them? Such is the way I am speaking to you, since I no longer have a phyiscal voice.
Leondre thought for a moment, then tried to speak with his mind. Like this?
Yes, the voice said, like that. And now, little one, I will tell you who I am.
Little one? Was all Leondre could think, and he realized too late that the other conscious could hear the words he was thinking of.
The voice seemed to laugh. If my physical body were present, you would understand my use of little one. You see, I am a dragon, named Sivkyen Starscales. An image then appeared in Leondre's mind of a huge dragon, his black scales reflecting the light from the stars and moon as brightly as if they were the sun. Now, will you tell me who you are, Soulseeker.
I'm Leondre Devries, the King of the Hatteran Kingdom.
No, no, show me what you look like, Sivkyen said, as I showed you.
Leondre paused for a moment, then walked over to the mirror. He tried to project what he saw into his mind. He had light skin and brown eyes. His hair and fur were a fading mix of dark brown and blonde. He was the average height for his age, nineteen. He had large fluffy ears and a long furry tail. Fixed upon his head was a thin golden crown with five diamonds embedded along the front of it. On his right hand, he wore his father's ring without any jewels, only the symbol of fire.
