She followed him out, and Farah and Hadir were standing there, having planted bombs. Gabby didn't know how Alex could be so cool after what just happened. "More explosives, Hadir?"
"Never too much. Same as before— enemies get close, detonate them. Watch your distance." Hadir advised. They nodded to show they understood. As they were walking over to the ladder to the rooftop, Gabby spotted a truck next to them. She looked at it for a moment, but followed Farah up the ladder.
"Price is calling on the radio. He says it's urgent." She advised. The two of them headed over. Gabby pressed the button.
"Echo 9-4, 3-1 for Actual."
"Gabby, the Wolf fled the city. He's headed your way, and the Russians are right behind him." Price advised, and as he spoke, Alex did some quick thinking and pushed Gabby down as the man next to them got sniped.
"Troops in contact, Actual." Alex replied quickly.
"Copy. On our way." Price replied. Alex and Gabby hurried over to their previous spot, avoiding fire. They laid down on the ground and began sniping, taking note of the wind shift. They glanced over and saw more people coming. Tons of mortars flew in. Gabby and Alex worked to take them out. A group of Russian MIGs flew by and hit Al-Qatala. That didn't make any sense to them.
"Barkov's army will be here soon. Look at the white smoke on the left!" Hadir pointed. They all focused over there. Multiple military vehicles came rolling towards them.
"Shit." Alex muttered.
"Find a way to stop them!" Hadir yelled.
"Tires. Flatten the tires. That's the only thing we can do." Gabby told him. He nodded and did as she said. They just climbed out of the vehicles and started running towards the village.
"They're too close now. We have to get down there and fight." Alex told her. Gabby nodded in agreement. They pulled out their other guns and began taking out men from the roofs and detonating bombs. They kept coming and coming. They were getting overrun, and they needed to get the Wolf.
"My truck is full of explosives! Very powerful explosives! It's time to use them!" Hadir called.
"Stay on the roof, I'll help." Alex told Gabby. She nodded and gave him a look.
"I wondered what that truck was for..." She paused. "Watch your back." She said. He cracked a small smile, then sent a wink her way before climbing down from the roof and rushing over to the vehicle.
"Open the tailgate, quickly! I'll cover us!" Hadir ordered. Alex did so, then his eyes widened at what he saw.
"Russian gas?" He questioned. It didn't make any sense what was going on... He backed away quickly as Hadir threw a bomb into the car and it traveled down the path towards the approaching Russians.
"Yes! And now we send it back to the Russians!" Hadir yelled excitedly. Alex shook his head and started running towards the rooftop where Gabby was. Hadir pulled him down from the ladder, now wearing a gas mask. He planned this.
"Gabriella! Gabby!" Alex yelled.
"What's going on? What is this?" She managed through coughs. Hadir pushed Alex back, but Alex was ready to fight him. He had to do something. He had to get Gabby. If he didn't do anything, he wouldn't be able to live with himself. Not that it seemed like he was going to live, anyways.
"The gas masks are in the bunker, come quickly!" Hadir rushed. Alex was coughing, not able to make it there.
"Hadir, what is this!?" Farah asked angrily.
