Charlie's POV
I plopped down on the counter at the drugstore beside Sam, ruffling his hair. He grumbled at me, reopening his book as I read over his shoulder.
"Where's your dipshit brother," I asked, nudging Sam again.
"Busy with that Anna girl," he replied, sighing.
"Wasn't he with Lisa the other day?"
"Uh huh."
"And that doesn't bother you?"
"Nope," he said, flipping the page. I let out a heavy sigh, my mind wandering to Castiel. I strangely would much rather be hanging around him than anyone else. I was beginning to wonder if I even wanted to be a part of this dumb gang. The door jingled open and the rowdy group came in through the doors, clapping Dean along the shoulders. Eliot Ness was beside him, congratulating him and Dean's best ass kisser Richie was not far behind.
So he was that kind of busy.
I cringed and Dean made his way over to us, punching Sam as he sat down, propping up his feet. His friend continued to ask about Anna, what kind of body she had, what she was like, all the typical kind of stuff. Sam looked up at me with a disappointed kind of look and I could only offer him a woeful glance back.
"I mean, for an angel she sure is gonna end up in hell," he said, his tongue resting at the tips of his teeth. His friends rioted at the comment and Jo eyed the group with the same disdain I had. She sat beside Garth and handed him a coke.
"That's gross Dean."
"What, you jealous?" he asked, peering at Jo.
"Hardly, I feel bad for her. Having to fuck a wuss. Afraid to get on top Dean?" she asked, taking a long sip of her coke. Jo had no trouble speaking openly and curtly.
"Jealous."
That was the best thing Dean could come up with. I glanced out the window at a group coming near. The one at the front was dragging a red headed girl like myself and I immediately picked Castiel out of the crowd. I chewed on my lip, knowing full well that this wasn't going to end up well if those were the angels.
"I mean she was just—"
"Winchester you stupid son of a bitch!" Everyone glanced up to the commotion. At the head of the pack was an enraged blonde guy, who honestly looked like the devil was at the helm in his brain. I glanced over at Cas who stumbled in at the rear and he looked to me. He just shook his head, unable to give me any clue as to what was going on.
"Luci, let go of me I'm a grown—"
"Shut up Anna," he threatened, setting her aside. "So what, you just gonna fuck one of our gang members you wank?!"
"Why? Jealous I didn't pick you?" Dean tested, his tongue running over his teeth. From where I could see, Luci's hair was disheveled and he was twitching.
"I'll kill you myself, with my own damn hands Winchester. You hear me? Step anywhere near us and I'll make sure you can see your own damn insides," Luci said, gripping the front of Dean's shirt collar. Dean still looked smug even though he was at the disadvantage and each side leaned forward in case something really did happen. I glanced to Castiel and he was suddenly gone, caught up in all the people that were crowded into the drugstore.
"Bite me."
That did it. There were a couple of yelps as Lucifer quickly swung his fist at Dean's face and people went to pull them away before everyone was frozen, staring at what had happened. Lucifer's fist slapped firmly against another palm, the hand curling around it. Castiel stood calmly holding the fist inches away from Dean's face. Dean stared at Castiel in curiosity, intrigued.
"Don't, you'll get in trouble, look," he said quietly, gesturing to the owner coming back from the back. Both their hands dropped and the groups dispersed as to not get in trouble. There had been a few times the doc had called the cops on the 2 groups and this had been one of the few times it hadn't escalated.
"You're dead," Lucifer spat, turning around before the whole group began after him. Castiel lingered begins for a second, glancing over at me.
"You're that Cas kid right?" Dean asked, tugging his shoulder so he turned.
"Castiel."
"Cas, right. That was pretty cool back there," he said.
"Back where, it just happened. Right here. And it wasn't for you, I don't intend on anyone getting in trouble for what others do."
"What? Me?" Dean asked, jabbing his thumb into his own chest. They both knew Castiel was talking about Anna and the mistake of Dean's decision. Castiel glanced around the group for a moment.
"Excuse me," he said, turning to exit and catch up with his group. Castiel was a puzzle. I hopped down from the bar, assuming a spot beside him for a moment as I watched Castiel leave.
"What's with that kid?"
"That kid just saved your ass," I stated matter-of-factly.
"Cas."
"It's—" I stopped myself, sighing. Cas has a better ring to it anyways. "I'll catch up with you guys."
And I took off after Cas.
