Q: What Is Your Favorite Hunter Jumper Workout Routine? (Jump Layouts, Grid Work etc.) And Why Do You Like That One Best?
A: Sorry in advance if I don't fully answer your question... I'm a bit slow aha c:
So firstly I really love flatwork; especially for Hunters. Kat is a horse who occasionally likes to power through my hand so on the flat before any lesson or jump course I like to spend time working on my upwards and downwards transitions using as little rein as possible (i.e using my seat/leg). If he doesn't want me pulling on his face he better stop/slow/sped-up when I tell her with my other AIDS!
**Be warned though Kat isn't like all horses and I'm not telling you to go and start implying this method with yours**
I also like putting poles on the ground and setting up a course for him. This way I can really focus on controling Kat's pace without having to worry about jumps (Kat isn't much for patience sometimes...)! It works on his strides and coordination in a very low stress environement!
Gymnastics are my favorite things to ride tho! For horses like Kat who like to rush jumps or loose focus occasionally it's a great thing to do! TBH I don't know why I love them so much!!
