For most of Storybrooke's residents, recovering their memories and snapping out of Regina's curse was a joyous occasion. For Whale, it was a horrible reminder of the things he had done and the people he had lost — so it's no surprise he falls to drinking alone in his office after hours, sometimes even on the job. But the big difference between his past and the present is you: you're there now, and when you start to find his office still lit up when everyone else has gone home to their loved ones, you make a habit of joining him and keeping him company.
