Mella was up bright and early, fuming with anger as she waited for Redina to arise from sleep. Her tail whipped back in forth in an frustrated manner.
Redina slowly woke up. "...Mm." She got up and stretched. Her head cocked to the side as she saw Mella. "Is something wrong, Mella?" She questioned.
Her older sister just lashed out at her. "Oh me? I just wanna know what you were doing with Caden last night!" She growled.
Redina cowered in fear. "I-I wasn't..." She whimpered.
"Oh, well isn't that something. Because I was here when he dropped you off." Scowled Mella.
"W-we..." She took a few small steps back. "We didn't do anything..." She then mustered up the courage to say. "Well, if you love Caden so much, then why were you hanging out with Mark instead of Caden?" She asked.
Mella just rolled her eyes. "Well maybe it's because Caden told me he would be really busy. Turns out he was busy, just with my sister!" Mella howled.
"We didn't do anything like that! We just wanted to get to know each other better!" Redina protested in a scared way.
"Hm, maybe you all got a little too familiarized with each other..!" She screamed angrily at her kin.
"Shut up! Goddamn why do you think I would do something like that!" She stood up to her full height, which wasn't very tall. "I know you love him, so why would I do something like that?!"
Mella unsheathed her claws. "Because why would you be with him?" She rose her paw, claws outstretched, ready to slash her.
"Mella..." A familiar voice sounded throughout the den.
Mella whipped her head to the entrance of the den to see Caden standing there. "Oh, Caden! I'm so glad you're here!" Her claws were quickly sheathed again. "...Why are you here? At such an early time, too?"
Caden sat down. "Well... I figured I'd just stop by to visit my favorite Mella." He looked up at Redina and mouthed the word "well..." and smiled.
Redina smiled and silently snickered as well.
Mella rubbed up against his bulky legs. "I thought you were here for something else." She shot a menacing stare at Redina, who just stood there.
Caden rolled his eyes secretly. "Well... What should we do..?" He asked.
Mella looked at him with loving eyes. "I don't know. Whatever you wanna do..."
Mella just sat there, leaning against Caden. "I don't know." He just shrugged. 'I feel like Mella was gonna do something to Redina...' "Hey, baby..." He felt weird saying that to Mella now. "What were you all doing before I got here..?"
Mella's eyes widened. "Oh- um. We were just messing around..." She paused. "Y'know... Sibling stuff..."
"Alrighty..." Caden looked down at Redina. "What's your side of the story...?" He looked into her eyes.
Redina smiled. "Well, if almost scratching me is called 'sibling stuff' then yeah." Her tail flicked in annoyance.
Caden looked at Mella. "You were gonna hit her?" He growled. "Why?"
"I mean, why would you care anyways?" She walked in circular motions around Caden. "It's not like you love her. Right...?" She asked.
He shrugged. "Maybe, maybe not." He looked at Mella with a stern look in his eyes.
"Wait what...?" Her pupils dilated. "What are you saying...?" Her tail waved in a saddening way.
"Well... Let's just say..." Caden paused. "Maybe I love someone else..." His eyes glanced at Redina for a split second, but not fast enough for Mella not to notice.
Mella lashed her tail angrily. "Her? You love her?!" She looked at Redina, who just shrugged. "That worthless, tiny bitch isn't even worth your time!"
Caden glared at her. "That's not true. And I don't think it's super polite to talk to your own kin that way, Mella." Caden walked over to her and sat down.
"Who gives a shit? Because I sure don't." Mella glanced at Redina. "A-Also you lied to me!"
Redina was astonished. "I- me? I told you that I was hanging out with him!"
"But you didn't tell me you two actually smashed!" Mella growled.
Caden stepped forward. "We did not do that. We just wanted to get to know each other better!" He grumbled.
Redina sighed. "Why do you care anyways?! Just because he loves me, and I love him too!" She lashed her tail.
Mella's eyes widened. "...O-oh." She looked at Caden. "Is this true...?"
Caden nodded. "I love her and she loves me back." His tail flicked. "Our relationship is over, Mella."
Mella nodded as she padded to the back of the den to wallow in sorrow.
Caden got up and made his way to the other side of the cave and beckoned Redina to follow him. "C'mon, come with me..." His tail flicked for her to follow.
She slowly followed him, her tail intertwined with his as they walked home. "So, what should we do when we get back?" She paused. "It's only the afternoon."
Caden shrugged. "I dunno." He kept a steady pace with Redina. "We'll find something out." Caden saw his and Mark's den in the distance.
Mark walked out of the den to see Caden and Redina walking towards the den.
Once they reached the cave, Redina waved her tail. "Hey Mark."
Caden gazed at Mark. "Redina's staying with us..." His eyes flickered with emotion. "Just a heads up."
Redina looked behind her and up at Caden. "Me? Staying here?" She paused. "I didn't know that..."
Mark looked at Caden too. "Yeah I didn't agree to that." He grumbled.
Caden rolled his eyes. "Well..." He said. "It's up to the lovely Redina." He looked down at Redina and smiled.
Mark just rolled his eyes in confusion.
Redina shrugged and smiled. "Yeah, I'd love to stay here." She laughed. "As long as I get to spend more time with you." She snuggled up with Caden.
Caden kissed her head. "Me too." He lied down as he let Redina cuddle up next to him. His tail curled around her as she slowly fell asleep. His eyes drifted shut as he too, fell asleep.
