a scarecrow's one true love

my life has been filled
with yearning,
living by learning
through my days

pathetic and lonely,
scared and constantly waiting,
for someone,
anyone,
to notice me,
and give me the love i so ached for.

as spring turned to summer,
flowers blooming,

eventually fading into
burnt orangey hues,
and crunchy wilted leaves,

a bite of cold at your cheeks.
and a skip of my beating heart,
staring straight at you.

i fell flat for you,
waiting on a sign
that was dug up from the ground,
uprooted,
while i was too busy waiting,
sitting like a lonely little scarecrow,

all alone in my field,
waiting,
and waiting,
and waiting,

for your my one true love,

which fluttered away,
like a leaf in the breeze
too beautiful to live life,
waiting on someone,
too busy looking for a sign.
