"He loves me, he loves me not. He loves me, he love me no-"
Midoriya's face went pale. He'd reached the end of the rose that he'd so brutally vandalized, and now nothing was left but the stem.
He tossed the remaining part of the plant into the rubbish bin below his desk. It was just a useless gift that came in the mail from a fan, anyway; but now he couldn't even pretend that he had feelings for him.

He'd already known that the person he admired most was most certainly uninterested, but it didn't help that the universe was also spiting his attempts of gaining hope.

He was officially dissatisfied with the career he'd exploited.
Midoriya was, in fact, the number 1 pro hero, and international symbol of peace.
He once joked that if he became a villain, he'd at least cross Bakugo's mind more often, not to mention run into him almost daily.
It was only satire, though. He'd never willingly succumb to villainy.

Would he?

"Hero Deku!" The com on Midoriya's nightstand buzzed to life. He pushed off of his desk, walking over to his bed and picking up the device.
"Hello? Who's speaking?"

"Hi. It's Mina. I'm requesting your assistance on a mission."

"So formal. What can I help you with?"

"There's been an attack on Musutafu City- near your middle school. I've already contacted Bakugo to intervene, but this villain is no joke. Could you scope the location ASAP, since you both know it best?"

"Got it."

Midoriya arrived to the scene, possibly too late. The city had evidently endured the merciless wrath of this villain's attack. Buildings were in rubble, cars were upturned and civilians were running for dear life, or screaming at the top of their lungs.

"COME AT ME!"
Midoriya flinched at the familiar, but still intimidating bellows. He scanned the area for the source, hopefully finding the threat in the process.
The fiery aura radiated off of the powerful hero atop a burning building. From a distance, he appeared as though he were a predator claiming its hellish domain.
Midoriya was in absolute awe.
There he was; the person, the entity he admired most in existence- Number two pro hero, Katsuki Bakugo.
Snapping back to reality, he thought of a plan to defeat this almighty villain, who was nowhere to be found.
That's right.
Where was this villain?
"Hero Deku! Watch out!" The disembodied voice of a child called.
Midoriya whipped his head around, only to be struck to the front of his body with a blunt object.
He exclaimed in pain, hurdling backwards until he skid his heel to regain balance.
"What the-"
"WHY DON'T YOU GO TO HELL!" He heard Katsuki holler in the distance, followed by an eardrum- shattering blast.
Then he thought that he was in over his head on his own, so he concluded that he should assist Bakugo as much as possible.
"Kacchan!" He called.
"What's going on?"

Katsuki's scarlet pupils shifted towards Midoriya, still hostile from the hype of battle.
"Deku, why are you here, dammit! You need to g-"
A brutal force thwarted Katsuki back, as if he were punched by a gust of wind.
"Kacchan!" Midoriya shrieked.
The blonde was sent propelling off the the side of the building.

Midoriya had to act fast.
Going at 11% power for a guaranteed incline in speed, he launched himself from the asphalt ground towards his plummeting comrade.

He calculated his moves perfectly, catching the blonde in his arms.
When his feet hit the ground, he'd noticed that Bakugo was now unconscious- most likely from the sudden impact.
Midoriya examined him, utterly mortified. Katsuki was covered from head to toe in gashes and bruises, blood smeared across his features like thick paint on a canvas.
His blood reminded Midoriya of the rose he'd gotten- and like the rose, he was invaded and treated cruelly.
That was his breaking point.

Suddenly, a tall, slender man approached the two- seemingly appearing out of thin air.
"If it isn't the number one hero himself, Deku. Say, how does it feel to be so paralyzed by fear that you're cowering at your knees?" He smiled menacingly.

"You're obviously new to villainy if you consider this cowering." Midoriya scoffed.

"Wha- ha, you think you're intimidating, pretty boy?"

"You know, there's a vow that heroes have to take; a vow that entails not taking the life of another unless there's absolutely no other choice,"
Midoriya gingerly laid the unconscious Katsuki down, stood up and cracked his knuckles.
He made a new vow to himself; to never let anyone harm or vandalize his rose again.
"Good thing I know how to make it look like an accident." He smiled, a flicker of malice in his pure, emerald eyes.

"Witnesses say that the villain had the ability to control the density if his molecules, to the point where he was as thin as air, yet as heavy as a truck. People have begun calling him 'Breakdown'. However, during Breakdown's attack on Musutafu City, he was tragically struck by the rubble of a building that caved in due to his own qu-"

Zap!

"I assumed that you would've wanted peace and quiet after a night like this." Midoriya mumbled, placing the television remote onto the hospital bed.
"Ngh..." Katsuki gave a grunt of agreement.
Midoriya twiddled his thumbs, biting back a joyous smile from being in Katsuki's presence.
"S-So.. Would you, by any chance.. Want to go out for coffee sometime? Maybe after your discharged? We can catch up, and talk.. Like the good old days." Midoriya glued his eyes to Katsuki's face for any sign of compliance at all.
"Hom.. Mm... Hnd." Katsuki groaned.
"I'm sorry, I can't understand what you're-"

"Hold my hand, dammit."
Midoriya was flabbergasted. He obviously held Bakugo's hand, but immediately questioned the request.
"Wuah, are you sick? Do you have a fever? Nurse!-"
"Shut up already. Just stay until I fall asleep." Katsuki sighed.
Midoriya nodded timidly, brushing his thumb over the back of Katsuki's calloused palms.

When Midoriya could hear his patterned breathing, he smiled softly to himself.
Katsuki looked so peaceful; a complete other half to when he resembled a roaring flame of rage.
Midoriya brushed his hand over the blonde's cheek, recalling the thick, red blood that was spattered across it when he was unconscious.

Even when he was battered and bruised, he was still beautiful.
If anything, the crimson colour brought out his burning ruby eyes.
It brought him satisfaction knowing that he was the only one who could see Katsuki like this; so peaceful and vulnerable.

It was the kind of expression worth killing for.
