Lexi lies on Hayley's bed with her brothers sitting beside her. Hayley sits in the nursery with her child in her arms rocking back in forth as the Mikaelsons discuss their fates.
"We should have felt our mother's hand in this," Klaus says with a shake of his head. "We should have known she would not be bound by anything as obvious as death. And now she has control of the witches."
Lexi raises a hand. "I believe I'm entitled to one of these, so here it goes. I bloody told you so. Consecrating our mother here was a mistake. She and the witches will never stop. Nor would I expect the Guerrera wolves to back down. Hayley and the child are wolf royalty, and as such, they are a threat to Francesca's claim to leadership."
"They will never be safe." Klaus glances into the nursery. "What was it you said to me earlier? That I have made enemies every day of my miserable life? Well, the worst of them are within these borders, brother. I have brought into the world a weapon they can use against me."
"Then we will arm ourselves," Elijah replies. "Brother, we have fought every adversary in this town, and we have won. And we'll fight them again, no matter who they are. We will make this house a fortress—"
Klaus sighs. "I will not have her live her life as a prisoner."
"Then we leave here, together. All of us."
Lexi clears her throat. "Wherever we go, however far we run, those who seek power and revenge will hunt us. They will hunt her. She has inherited all of our enemies with none of our defenses. I've lived this before, Elijah. Running is no use."
He hangs his head. "So, whether we stay or we leave—we condemn her."
"There's a third option." Lexi pushes herself up as Hayley walks into the room with the child in her arms. "I grew up in a war zone," Hayley says. "My parents thought they could protect me, but, in the end, they were slaughtered, and I spent my childhood alone and unloved." Tears gather in her eyes as she looks at the baby. "I made a promise, to my baby and to myself, that she would not grow up like I did. That she would grow up safe and loved. Yet, here she is, on her first day in this world, with a grandmother who is bent of sacrificing her, and a-a mother who has to drink the blood of her own baby to survive transitioning into a hybrid, and I'm the one who loves her the most."
Hayley takes a moment, looking at Lexi with pain in her expression. "I think the only thing to do is send her away while we stay behind and clean up the mess that we've made."
Lexi looks down at her hands as Elijah jumps to his feet. "No," he says. "This is insane. You heard Genevieve—so long as she lives, that baby will be hunted.
"Not if no one knows she lives," Klaus replies.
Elijah narrows his eyes at them. "What is it you intend to do, brother?"
Lexi finally picks her head up with a sigh. "We are going to do what I did," she says, her voice much softer than before. "We're going to erase her so no one knows she lives. Instead of sparing the people of New Orleans as I did with my pack, we'll be saving her life, and with it, protecting her from those who would do her harm."
The scene shifts before the pack's eyes. They find themselves in the center of a forgotten field with Klaus and Lexi standing beside Klaus' car. Another one parks before them, and a blonde steps out of it with a smile.
Lexi jogs forward, wrapping Rebekah in a tight hug. "It has been too long, sister," Lexi says as she pulls away and allows Rebekah to see the new baby.
"Oh, she looks like her mother," Rebekah whispers. "Maybe there is a god after all."
"Well, she has a hunt of the devil in her eyes," Klaus replies. "That's all me." After a moment of looking between his sisters, he says, "Make sure you get someplace safe. Lexi, you must return quickly—"
