Riley was mad, they were lost in the middle of the wilderness and all everyone was doing was arguing. Seriously, forget about the past and focus on their current situation. Riley had been lucky since Cruze had given her his only weapon when he finally told them all about what happened to his gun. She was worried about Cruze, for he had nothing to defend himself with. Hopefully, he'll find something, she thought. In the heat of the argument, no one had time to think about what Cruze would do with no weapon. But not trying to cause another argument he just gave the hatchet to her anyways. Thankfully the smallest wolf of the pack chose her, which in her opinion was still very big and scary. It would still be an incredibly unfair fight but she had a chance... a small chance... ok maybe a very slim chance.  She was trying to have a positive attitude to their umm... their predicament. She had never used a hatchet, so she had no clue what it was meant for or how to use it. She guessed it could cut down a small tree. She took a practice swing with it and almost took her right ear off as she swung starting from behind her right shoulder. At the sign of her unease, the wolf started slowly approaching her, trying to figure out the best way to attack. She had no clue why the wolves were interested in them like she didn't look that appealing right? But one thing for sure was that she was definitely not going to be their next meal. She tried thinking of a plan of how to protect herself but she came up blank as the wolf silently approached her. Finally, after what seemed like forever a small plan started to form in her brain, it was risky but it might just work. Confirming her plan out of the blue, she turned around and ran as fast as she could away from the direction of where the wolf had been. After a couple of minutes, she found a small tree off the dirt path that had a fairly sized trunk, with all of her strength she started hacking at the base of the trunk. It was slow hard work but she didn't have much time, meanwhile, the wolf surprised by her action was frozen in confusion. Jumping back to reality the wolf started chasing after the direction she had run too. She was halfway there, a small divot in the trunk could be seen. Now all she had to do was cut through enough of the trunk for it to work. She could now see the wolf coming, running at full speed towards her. She was getting nervous she might not make it, she started chopping wildly with all of her remaining strength. Her hands were numb, and sweat was dripping onto the ground around her. Her timing would have to be perfect, judging by the speed of the wolf and when it would be to her, there was no time to waste. It would be there in a few seconds, it was now or never.  She started to push the trunk with all of her strength but it refused to move. "Come on, please just help me this once," She said looking up at the sky. She tried another time channelling all of her strength and rage she pushed as hard as she could and miraculously she started to hear the cracking noise of the trunk starting to break off the base of the tree. She silently yelled "Timber!" To herself, trying to cheer herself up. Hoping she had judged the distance correctly and that it wouldn't be too late. The trunk was mid-fall when the wolf came charging at full speed. She made a silent prayer hoping this would work, because if this failed she was out of options. As the wolf came sprinting down the dirt path, he looked up surprised to see a big trunk about fall on him. He had no time to think or move before the trunk crashed upon him, crushing him with a bone-cracking sound. He howled in pain from the crash, but Riley knew he wouldn't live throughout the day. She hesitantly stepped out of the brush she was hiding behind and took a peek at the crushed wolf. He looked at her with a defeated look in his amber eyes. She felt very sad for the helpless wolf and a tinge of guilt but she knew if she hadn't killed him, he would've killed her.
She quickly ran to where she had last found the others but soon found herself lost. In the heat of it all, she had lost her sense of direction and had no clue of where she had come from.  Come on she thought to herself, she had just gotten out of a problem and now is right back into one. This day couldn't have gone any worse, why did it have to be me, she thought.  But as the action had died down, she started to feel the effects of her body on her little adventure. Her stomach was desperately needing food, her legs felt very sore from all of the running she had done and her hands had lost all feeling. She rubbed them trying to regain the feeling in her hands. She desperately tried to remember where she had come from, fortunately, she remembered that she had come from the direction of the wolf had run from so she went the opposite direction of where the wolf was facing. Which was where he had come from. So she started the long trudge back to where she had come from, thankful that she hadn't started to panic which would've made the situation a lot worse.

"Riley!" Riley heard someone yell in the distance.
"I'm over here!" Riley replied.
"Hurry! Wyatt's passed out and he's lost a lot of blood!" Avery yelled again, tears trickling down her cheeks.
She rushed over to the tent where she snatched her first aid bag and ran over to where Wyatt had passed out on Avery's lap. She immediately went into nurse mode, her training kicked and without her thinking, she was already taking a check of all the materials she had. She would have to stop the bleeding and fast. He had lost way to much blood if he lost too much more he could go into hypovolemic shock, which is when severe blood and fluid loss disrupts the heart from pumping enough blood to the body. As a result, tissues don't get enough oxygen which can lead to tissue and organ damage. She definitely wanted to avoid that for there was not much she could do if that happened. She put a towel on the wound and it immediately got soaked in blood. She tried to apply pressure to the bite but it just kept bleeding, she needed a solution and soon. She almost starting to panic and that wouldn't help their situation at all. She applied a dressing to Wyatt's leg trying to keep the remaining blood in him, not on the dirt. Secondly, all she could was hope he didn't get rabies. Cruze who was covered in sweat limped over to them, he explained how as he charged at the wolf, he tackled it and with all the rage built up inside of him he started punching the wolf in the snout as hard as he could, which explained the scratches that covered his arms. The wolf then ran away back to wherever hell hole it had come from, howling to its nearby comrades. They huddled together as the sun reached the middle of the sky indicating that it was roughly noon. Despite that, they had just gotten up about an hour ago from a goodnight's sleep they were tired and wanted to go back to bed once again. But they all knew they couldn't stop now, they would once again start the drill of having to pack up there stuff getting ready for the day and start walking again. It was their third day, and everyone was already giving up.
" I hate this, nothing good has happened so far, we've fought a bear that nearly killed us, we've walked through ice cold water and we're so close to being killed by a pack of wolves. The closest thing to someone else being out here is a stupid broken canoe with some letters scratched into it! I am so sick of this!" Avery screamed at no one in particular.
" We get it been a long couple of days for all of us, let's try to look on the bright side. Hey, at least we're all in one piece at least most of us are". Cruze said, looking at Wyatt who was lying on the dirt. Suddenly Wyatt started to try to sit up and started muttering a bunch words that no one understood.
"Hey buddy, don't try to get up yet. You need to recover first" Riley told him.
"Arshplishgrr" Wyatt answered.
"I guess that means he agrees," Cruze said.
"Can we just get going guys" Avery grumbled, crossing her arms.
"Sure, let's pack up our thing and be on our way" Cruze replied.
As they were packing up there things Riley went over to the cooler to check on how much food they had left.
"Ughh! Not now!"
She looked into the cooler and found nothing but five apples and a couple of granola bars. They didn't enough food to get them through a meal, they should've divided enough food for at least five days. Why did teenagers have to eat so much? She knew this would be when Avery and her bow would have to come in handy. The would have to do it the hard way of killing, skinning and cooking their own animal. She realized there were no good animals to eat around here except for maybe rabbit or possibly a wild turkey which would be awfully delicious. But she couldn't think of food right now, she would have to go tell the others after she packed up. They met up on the dirt path around Wyatt who was laying in the dirt looking like a kid fooling around. He wasn't in any condition to walk. They would have to figure out something.... and soon for the wolves would come back sooner than later....
