SUNNY CHRISTENSEN never once had people questioning the reason behind her name. Just one look at her and you just got it. Completely understood why her parents would name her something as unique as that. It was seen when you first saw her — all golden hair and the brightest, biggest smile you would ever see in your life. The girl was always happy, never knew a bad mood before. Giggling about and humming a song or two daily.

Sunnys been through a lot in her life however, but she never left the meaning behind her name simmer into nothingness. She used to believe she had some sort of bad luck bestowed on her at one point in time — maybe her happiness was just too good to be true.

It first started with her dad who was drafted into the Vietnam war the literal day before her birthday ( followed by a few tumultuous days after the fact ), her mom lost her teaching job just months later that prompted the family to uproot their lives from San Francisco to rainy Washington to live amongst nosy aunts and rowdy cousins. The somber mood only intensified once the Christensen family had a few military members knocking on their door late one night — you can only guess how that went.

So, yes — Sunny may have had a pretty blue upbringing with bad news after bad news lined up after the other but she never let that diminish the glowing light that engulfed her heart ( a phrase her mother used most often to cheer the girl up). Sunny still kept her head up high and focused on things that made her happy and secure in her life. She did fairly well in school to the point she was accepted to an amazing  college in Washington, had a group of helpful friends and participated in numerous clubs and activities the campus offered.

But, unfortunately, the bad luck never took a break from the Sunny girl and it seemed they outdid themselves this time.

Immortal life?

Who even knew that was a thing and something that Sunny could wrap herself into?

It was a hazy process that she can't remember much of nowadays, but what she did remember was how it happened — and for once in her life Sunny was mad. Like blazing mad, the kind of mad that had you yearning for the blood of those who've done you wrong (Inappropriate description in a time like this, she realized)

Sunny Christensen ( now Hale because some pretty blonde that could pass as her twin) was living in new terrain. She didn't need to breathe anymore, nor eat and drink, she could also run so fast and jump very high. Just a lot to grasp from the beginning.

Then Sunny realized her bad luck could transfer into immortality (her bad luck got her here in the first place, anyway) because she did something kinda bad that lead her to discover that she could do some pretty wicked things with ones mind. The whole day was just a mess from start to finish that would lead to Emmett never looking at her the same way.

But the best worse kind of bad luck that will come out of this aged life of hers would happen when she stumbles across some young man from the neighboring reservation.

Sunnys never wanted and didn't want something more in her life as a result.
