xiv. liar, liar!
BELLA SWAN HASTILY made her way back home with the help of Jacob Black after their conversation, her mind being preoccupied with the running thoughts surrounding her boyfriends deception. She liked to believe he had everyone's best intentions in mind, but keeping Sunnys fate from conspiring didn't benefit anyone other than Edward himself. From the first moment she met the blonde vampire, she's always known she was the soft spot for the Cullen family — they often treated her like the true little sister they never had and maybe in the end, Edward was doing all that he could to make sure she stayed with them — with Michael Bianchi — in the end. The justification of it all just wasn't sticking with her however, no matter how much she tried to understand his potential reasoning.
And then the image of Seth Clearwater came to her. Sweet Seth. The teen that always sported a humongous grin on his face literally every moment of the day. He surely got the short end of the stick in this situation, and the thought of breaking his heart in any way through supporting and going through with this wedding just didn't sit well with Bella. How could Edward do that to him? The same kid that went against his true nature in order to find some form of good within Edwards species?
A harsh serious of knocks interrupted Bella's frenzy, quickly making her way to the front door only to be met with the one man that has occupied her thoughts for the last hour — and not in the nature he usually was.
"Don't you understand how worried I've been?" Edward promptly questioned, eyebrows bunched together as he continued to focus on Bella's indifferent gaze. He relented his stare for a quick moment — her shift in demeanor telling him that something wasn't quite right with the situation.
"I was perfectly safe" Bella snapped as she shifted her body to lean against the doorway, preventing his usually welcome of entering her house.
"I almost broke the treaty line—"
"Jacob told me something" Bella stated abruptly, successfully interrupting whatever little tangent that Edward was attempting to conduct. His reaction was one of peculiarity, his stare telling the girl that he knew something was wrong — his mind racing back to whatever he now could have done to emit such an attitude.
"How could you keep something like that to yourself" the girl explained incredulously, eyes narrowed to focus on the shift of emotion going across her boyfriends face. "You were never going to tell Sunny where you?"
The sharp in take of breath confirmed the truth she already knew. Jacob Black wasn't a liar with the only intent to divide the couple. Edward Cullen was a liar. Having lied to her face just days ago when she just had a hunch that something had shifted. Had lied to Sunny herself, acting like nothing important had shifted and all was well and alright.
