I came into a breakroom, it was fairly empty. All it had was a table, 6 chairs, a small filing cabinet, and a broken vending machine.
He gestured for me to sit down, so I did as he asked. He walked to the filing cabinet and retrieved a tattered folder. He started towards me and threw it on the table.
I looked up at him, and then down to the folder. Across it was a big red logo that said "classified".
"If you want to stop this war and bring back freedom, this is your only shot." He said dryly. I opened the folder and began reading. I couldn't believe it. This was an entire folder full of directions and possible locations for the most coveted artifact since the war started: The Last N-Word Pass. If we got our hands on this, we could restore balance and bring back our freedom! I looked towards the bartender.
"Why are you helping me? Aren't you part of a violent gang?" I inquired.
He let out a sigh.
"Yessir I am, but, I want the same thing you want. I want to be free without having to build an entire damn city to do it. I just hope that you're able to free us… you're not the first one I've shown that folder to y'know…"
I closed the folder and tucked it under my arm. We left the employee room and I started towards the exit. Just as I was about to leave, a drunk man bumped into me.
"He-...HeY! ThiS GuY iS TryiN' tO fiGhT mE!" He said drunkenly.
"No dumbass, I'm just trying to leave." I replied calmly.
His eyes narrowed and he swung on me. I ducked out of the way and caught his arm, then broke it over my knee. He let out a blood curdling scream as I dashed for the exit.
I leaped into the driver-seat of the go cart and quickly sped away. The sudden movement caused Bones to wake up.
"Holy shit what did you do?!" He asked, frightened.
"I just broke a dudes arm it's ok, I got valuable information that we can use to save the world!" I explained.
"I thought it was just the country that we were saving…" He corrected.
I ignored him and peeled rubber through the thick muddy ground of West Groves' streets. We approached the front gate and I sped up. Bones let out a gasp as we crashed through the sheet metal and drifted back through the woodland path.
"Uhhh I think they're following us!" Bones exclaimed.
I looked behind us, and sure enough, we were being tailed.
They started shooting at us with assault rifles and handguns, I ducked down as Bones leaped into the front seat. I took out my handgun and climbed in the back.
"Take the wheel!" I yelled.
Bones slid to the driver-seat and kept us steady while I ducked behind the back seat and shot at the Balls that were tailing us.
"Drive back to the house, kid! I got some files about the N-Word Pass!" I yelled.
"The N-Word Pass? I thought that was just a myth!" He replied, shocked.
"It's not, and if we can get our hands on it, we're free!" I explained.
I held off the gang members long enough for them to either give up, or of course get shot. I hopped back into the front seat and switched with Bones.
"Once we get back home and regroup, that N-Word Pass is as good as ours! Thanks for keeping your cool in the heat of the moment, Bones". I said
"No problem! Things are finally going right for us! We're gonna be heroes!". Bones exclaimed happily.
I was glad he was excited, it's not often that we get to celebrate things in this wasteland. But now we have the government and some gang on our hands. What has this world come to? People who want the same thing, fighting each other… ridiculous. I just hope Bones keeps his head up. The kid is a fighter, but even the strongest fighters can't overpower everything.
