Jake's POV
He cracked his eyes open, realizing it was still dark. He forces his eyes all the way open and glanced at the clock. 4:37 am. He sighed and rolled onto his back, suddenly feeling angry at everything. This happened occasionally, where Jake couldnt hold back the overwhelming thoughts. Instead of giving in to depression, he just got mad. Really, really fucking mad. He slipped out of his warm bed, making sure he hadn't awaken Rich before tiptoing over to Ty's room.

He knocked quietly on the door, knowing that they would still be up. "Come in." He pushed the door open, seeing Ty seated at their desk with large designs spread out on it. It took up almost 3/4ths of the room, their bed shoved into the corner, perfectly made and untouched. "Its happening again..." He sat down heavily on a plush, wheeled chair. Ty looked up, concern on their face. "But its been months since the last time! Do you have any idea what caused it?"

I think the whole thing with Rich, his mom, coming out, and being myself at school is kinda doing it, y'know? Also today marks eight months of no parents, so I'm sure thats not helping." Ty nodded, setting down the ruler and pencil they had in hand. They sat across from Jake, kicking their legs onto the desk. "Do you think a distraction will help? You arent going to school, that's for sure. I can't skip because I'm on scholarship money, but I'll come home asap. Maybe you and Rich could skip and go somewhere? I dont think missing a day will hurt all that much."

Jake shrugged, picking at the lint on the chair. "I guess... I dont think that's the best option though... If I skip, it looks bad for college and I NEED scholarship money, same as you. I think I'll go, but I'll leave if it gets to be too much." Ty looked thoughtful. "Tell Rich about it so he can leave with you and act as a voice of reason if it gets that bad. You better call if something happens, ok? I can leave if you really need me to, I'm never too far away."

Jake nodded, standing up. "Thanks Ty, I always feel a lot better after talking to you. Try to get some sleep, ok? I swear to god one of these days im going to drug you just so you can finally get some decent sleep." Ty smirked and shooed him out, going back to their work. Jake crept back into his room, returning to his spot next to Rich. The bed was still warm, but he couldn't seem to fall back asleep. He shifted from position to position, trying to get comfortable, but he couldnt seem to find one. He was shifting so much he eventually woke Rich.

"Jake? What'th wrong?" He mentally cursed, turning to the sleepy boy next to him. "My brain is just being a little loud, but I'll be ok, I promise. I'll explain more in the morning ok? We should get some sleep." Rich pushed himself onto his elbows. "No, we talk now. Im not tired anymore." Jake sighed and sat up. "Fine, we talk now. Im gonna turn the lamp on, ready?" "Yeah." He counted to three and pulled the chain, closing his eyes tight at the sudden flood of bright, buttery light it emitted. "Tho what'th up? Uthually you thleep like a dead perthon." Jake sighed.

"Well... Sometimes I get really overwhelmed, and when I get overwhelmed I get angry. I guess I just couldnt keep it back anymore. It used to be a lot worse, I've gotten a lot better at talking things out instead of fighting things out." Rich had wriggled his way under Jake's arms and cuddled there, listening quietly. "Thould we go to thchool tomorrow? Well technically today... I dont want you to get into any fightth." "I think we should go but I'll leave if it gets bad. I'll text you so you can come with, if thats ok." Rich sat up and kissed the underside of his jaw. "Of courthe I'll leave, thchool ithnt fun anymore now that I have to be on even higher alert." Jake frowned. "Im sorry love..." Rich shrugged. "Itth ok, really. People are too thcared to actually do anything."

After they finished talking, it was time for them to get up and ready. They got up, trudging into the kitchen for breakfast. It wasn't anything fancy, just cereal. They left at 7:30, arriving at 7:39. They took the usual place in the library, avoiding all human contact with people. Suddenly, a small boy with blond hair, a blue striped polo and a cast ran into the corner that the two sat in, hiding behind a bookcase. Jake stood up, hearing footsteps coming closer. He motioned at Rich towards the boy, signaling that he should go over and see what was going on and if he needed help. Rich nodded, heading over to the bookcase he was behind. Three of Jake's former teammates bust in, looking around. "Ok, where the fuck did he go? That fag can't hide for long."

They finally caught sight of Jake, who stood to his full height, looking down on them. "Well look guys, the man who started all this shit. The fags in the school are gaining confidence because of you, man. Three pairs decided they wanted to take part, you know that? You and that short fucker are spreading your shit around, and I don't think I like that." He pushed Jake's chest lightly, confident that Jake wouldnt retaliate.

Jake's hand shot out, twisting the fabric and pulling him closer. His voce was deathly quiet, fire in his eyes. "If you dont stop this shit, I swear on your life that I will find you and send you to the hospital. And wouldnt it be a shame if people found out about you and Harrison?" He nodded to one of the boys other basketball players. "Wouldnt look to great, huh." The color drained from his face as what Jake had said registered in his head. He dropped him, shoving him backwards. They left, and Jake took a couple of deep breaths before going over go Rich.

He peeked around the corner and saw Rich doing breathing exercises with the other boy. He smiled, quietly sitting down next to them. He tapped Rich's shoulder, letting him know he was there. Rich mouthed "back up, he's having a panic attack and you might be crowding him" Jake nodded, scooching back to give him some space. The blond haired boy had calmed down, finally opening his eyes. He saw Jake and jumped, but then smiled. "H-hi.." He gave him a small wave. Jake grinned and waved back. "Hey! What's your name? Im Jake but I assume you know that." Rich rolled his eyes and gently hit his arm.

"I'm E-Evan. Yeah, I-I know who you a-are." Jake glanced over at Rich and smirked, causing Evan to giggle. "Do you wanna talk about why they were chasing you? You dont have to, no pressure or anything." Rich joined him, sitting across from Evan and leaning on the bookshelf with his head on Jake's shoulder. "O-oh... Um well... When you g-guys were so-so confident yesterday me and m-my b-boyfriend Connor got a little t-to adventurous... Th-they caught us m-making out in the bathroom... Connor f-fought them off so I c-could go somewhere s-safe..." He looked at the floor.

"Hey Evan? Ith it alright if I give you a hug?" Rich asked. Evan nodded, and Rich gave him a gentle side hug. "Do you want to go find Connor? My boyfriend can explain what went down out there becauthe he got them to go away." Evan looked up and nodded, pushing himself up off the floor. "Th-thank you so much for helping me..." Jake smiled warmly. "Of course! I'll always help a friend." Evan looked up surprised, then broke into a huge grin. "F-friends... Yeah, th-that sounds nice..." Rich was walking next to him and gave Evan his and Jake's number, so he could text them if he wanted. Evan was practically glowing as he lead them to where he had last seen Connor. "I-I think- there! H-he's over there." He started running, drawing Connor's attention. Jake and Rich jogged behind him, trying to keep up with him.

"Evie, slow down! You could trip and hurt your arm even more! You're gonna get it off next week, then you can run to me full speed, ok?" Evan blushed and nodded. "I-I was just excited t-to see you..." Connor grinned and kissed his forehead. "So am I! I just dont want you to get hurt worse." Evan nodded. "L-look! I made s-some friends!" He was bouncing on his toes, a wide smile on his face as he showed them off. Connor's eyes widened and he smiled at them, an arm loosely around Evan's shoulders. "Jake and Rich, right? You were the two badasses who inspired the other gays of the school." Jake grinned and nodded. "That is us. Though I dont think anyone has described Rich as a badass, though." "Hey! I can be badath!" Jake laughed and kissed him. "If you say so."

Rich's POV
"You mentioned other people, Connor?" Rich asked the taller boy. "Yeah, I think my sister and her girlfriend, Chloe and Brooke, Jeremy and Michael, and maybe one other couple? I know Jared walked into school carressing a pan with a pan flag on his shirt so I guess he counts too." Rich blanched, shocked by the amount of people who had gained that much confidence from one action. "That'th a lot of people... Anywayth Jake ith gonna explain what happened with the other people." Connor shifted his attention to Jake.

"The three ran into the library and I stopped them. I wsrned them not to mess with Evan and threatened the leader, I've got a lot of shit on a lot of people, so it want difficult... They wont be bothering us or you guys any time soon." Connor had a lopsided grin. "Good. Do you you two wanna sit with us for lunch? Most of the gays sit there, so its pretty chaotic. We're usually in the 3rd floor D hall because its always empty." Jake nodded. "Sure! We'll be there. Bye! We gotta go."
