The Martial League: Becoming

Prologue

I have seen many things in the years that I have been summoned. The many things I have witnessed confuse me to this day.

The beings who walk this world are all sinners, that much I can tell you. They all lie, cheat, murder, betray and eventually die. It fascinates me how they believe they do things for the world's sake or for a loved one's sake.

So curious how they really think what they are doing is right. A lot of them think they are good and that they battle evil day to day. From what I've learned, good and evil is not all black and white. I used to believe good was good and evil was evil. I used to believe the world was all black and white.

But then I discovered someone's story; her story is so intriguing, yet so genuinely confusing to me. Is she good or is she evil? Does she love or does she hate? Will she survive or will she die?

I still find myself grimacing at her poor choices, at the many mistakes she could've simply avoided had she used her mind and not her heart. But then I find myself smiling at how she fixes those mistakes. Her struggles feel all too real, all too believable. I often drift into those curious thoughts of hers, hearing the battles of good and evil slamming against her skull, fracturing not just her mind but her soul. It gets very annoying to try and comprehend someone as complex as this woman... as this beast.

She was destined for a great evil, an evil that would roam the earth and eventually destroy the entire world... yet she continues to surprise me with heroic deeds. Her selfish love is what gets her into trouble, especially when it comes to her friends.

Her kind is uncanny. She didn't know what she was until we met, face to face. I told her everything, told her about the world and about her destiny. But she seemed to defy it in all ways possible; all she cared about was keeping her team-her family-safe. 

Allow me to tell you a story about this beast and trust me when I say you will not believe what you hear...
