"I just really wish you were here" It was merely a whisper, but Karlie was positive Taylor heard it.

"I know baby, but I'll just be in London for a few days" Taylor had arrived at London a few hours ago and was feeling a bit jetlagged, which made her feel even worse for not being with Karlie.

"I know, its just that my family wants to go Christmas shopping this week and I'm dreading it" this surprised the singer as they were both almost as equally as cheerful when it came to holiday shopping.

"Why do you dread going shopping?"

"You obviously never had sisters" the tone in which Karlie said it made her chuckle and smile through the line.

"What is that supposed to mean..."

"They can never agree on anything. I can almost guarantee you that we are going to visit at least a dozen stores before they decide on their Christmas gifts, and being honest with you, after going to different stores and listening to the same Christmas songs over and over again, things just start molding together and the day drags on and on"

"Babe, you are being over dramatic" she heard shuffling on the other line and knew Karlie was settling in for the night.

"You would be too if you knew were going to listen to Santa Baby over and over"

"It's a classic" she tried to suppress a yawn and failed miserably.

"Tay, look at the time, you should be sleeping..." she glanced at the clock beside her bed and saw it marked 2:14 AM.

"Nah, I'm fine"

"Baby, you have to be up in a few hours, and I don't want to be the reason why you are falling asleep during the interviews tomorrow"

"How come that doesn't bother you when I'm home?" she asked hoping to make the conversation last longer by teasing her fiancé.

"When you are naked in bed and moaning my name, sleeping is always the last thing on my mind" Karlie's voice had dropped a few octaves and she knew she had to let the other woman go, the conversation was heading into dangerous territory and if they kept going neither of them were going to get much sleep.

"This is so not fair, Kloss" the chuckle on the other line confirmed the other woman knew exactly the effect she had on Taylor.

"Good night, baby"

"Good night, Karlie"

"I love you"

"I love you"

Soon after ending the call, she got as comfortable as she could in the bed of the apartment she always rented when she visited London, and drifted to an uncomfortable sleep filled with dreams of simpler times and snow.

----

The next morning went by incredibly slow, at least that's what it had seemed to Taylor, but she had the suspicion it was mostly due to her lack of sleep and not nearly enough caffeine in her system.

She had a couple of interviews to do that morning, thankfully her schedule pretty much cleared up after that. She was looking forward to spending a quiet afternoon by herself, catching up some much-needed sleep and a few Grey's Anatomy episodes she had missed during the past few weeks.

It was almost 5 PM when she finally reached the apartment, she changed into some comfortable clothes, turned on the TV and poured herself a generous glass of wine. Merely a few minutes went by when a familiar sound hit her ears, and the voice of George Michael filled the apartment as Emilia Clarke dressed as an elf graced the screen. An idea hit her.

Turning off the TV she headed to the piano that stood in one of the corners of the room, and placing the wine on top, she started playing.

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart

But the very next day you gave it away

This year, to save me from tears

I'll give it to someone special

She smiled; it had been quite some time since she had played something that was just for pleasure. Usually whenever she picked up her guitar or sat by the piano, it was mostly to write new music, not necessarily to play her favorite songs and sing along just for the fun of it.

Blue is where I've been

Green can't buy me you

Silver bells remind me

That mistletoe's for two

So I found a color

That only tells the truth

That paints a picture

Of how I feel for you

She thought about Karlie and how she was going to go holiday shopping later in the week. She wished with all her heart she could be with her, even if it meant listening to all those sappy Christmas songs while her sisters bickered in the background.

An idea suddenly hit her, maybe there was a way she could be with Karlie even if they were miles and miles apart.

And when I'm feeling alone

You remind me of home

Oh baby, baby, Merry Christmas

She smiled. Yes, there was definitely something she could do.
