"Look, Heather, I do not see what the fuss is about anyway," He says.
"All the fuss is it, I thought you knew you mean to much for me to let you get an infection," Heather says angrily.
Heather stands up and stomps off toward the house. She does not care if he sees her tears or not.
"Heather, wait!" He calls out after her. He notices she ignores him and thinks great I made the woman cry.
Heather enters her home, slams the door behind her, enters her room, and closes the door. She forgets all about the biscuits. She sits on the edge of her bed and sobs. She refuses to let the tears stop.
He follows her to the house and tries to let himself inside. He realizes she locked him out. He gets down in the snow on his knees, cleans it off the rug, grabs up the key and lets himself in through the back door. He closes it gently behind him. He hears Heather's sobs from the bedroom.
The next day, Heather leaves her room and sees him asleep on the floor beside the fireplace. Her old worn-out farm dog is curled up in a ball beside him. She thinks, he looks cute.
Heather goes to the kitchen where she fixes breakfast and a fresh pot of coffee. She calls him to the table when it is done. "Breakfast is ready," Heather says.
"Be right there, " He says as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes.
He gets up, shaves, and so on, then a few minutes later comes and sits down at the table.
Heather says then blessing when she finishes she tells him, " After breakfast, you need to let me see your hand so I can tell if it is healing nicely or not, got it?"
"Yes, Heather, I got it," He says.
Right after breakfast, Heather cleans the dishes, and thinks it is Saturday already and early January. She dries the dishes, puts them away, and takes a look at his hand.
He grins as she makes a fuss over him. He laughs when she gives him a puzzled look.
Heather smiles when she sees the bleeding has stopped. She cleans it, adds more idoine and laughs when he winces. She puts a fresh round of peroxide and bandages over the wound.
"There, now good as new, " She says.
