Back in New Bern 1 year before the terrorism happened Amelia found herself in her apartment three years after her husband Jake left her.

 It was New Year's Eve and she wasn't in the party mood so she cancelled on her friends and ordered take out and curled up on the couch with a good slasher movie. 

She wanted to avoid the love and romance that usually comes with New Years.

 As she sat on her couch a memory of when she first met Jake appeared in her mind.

Jericho 20 years ago

Amelia was only 12 years old at the time when she first stepped foot in the town of Jericho. 

She had a friend Emily who she met through 4-H and she was meeting her for a Friday night movie special since it was New Year's Eve.

 Her dad pulled up in front of the theater and stopped the car. 

"Are you sure Emily is meeting you here?" he asked uncertain of leaving his daughter here in a town she wasn't familiar with. 

"Yes dad I'm sure. See she's right there waiting." She rolled her eyes at her dad's uncool behavior.

 "Alright. Enjoy your time there. Call me when you're ready to come home." he told her. 

Amelia leaned over and kissed his cheek. 

"I will dad. Love you!" 

She quickly got out of the car and rushed over to where Emily was waiting.

Emily gasped as she could easily picture herself as a young 12 year old who had her whole ahead of her and was so innocent when it came to boys and heartbreak.

 She remembered that night perfectly.

 She remembered every single detail of him.

 What he was wearing and what he smelled like. 

She quickly stood up and went to her kitchen to grab the bottle of wine she bought for tonight knowing that she was going to need a glass if she was going to travel down memory lane.

"Hey Em! I was finally able to get my dad to leave he was hovering too much." 

Amelia tried to sound cool in front of her friend. Emily rolled her eyes.

 "At least he cares. My dad didn't even notice when I left with Chris. He's more concerned with whatever job he's gonna pull off this week." 

Emily looked so sad when she spoke about her father. 

"I'm sorry girl. I know you hate it. It sucks that he can't just be a regular father." Amelia empathized with her even though she had a father that spent all his time worried about her. 

"Its whatever. I just wanna see this movie. I heard that its suppose to be super scary." Amelia knew that her friend was trying to deflect off of her and it was working.

 "This movie is supposed to be super scary. It gave a girl in another town nightmares for like a week!" Amelia exclaimed. 

"Oh before I forget! My brother is bringing a friend with him tonight." Emily stated as a smile appeared on her face.
