[23] Unwanted Visitor

It poured hard, and her parents didn't come home. I was contemplating my choices. Either I barge in her house unannounced, or I'd wait until morning. It seemed as if I was running out of choices and I was running out of time. The light which continuously emitted through her window was my only source of hope. The bawling quieted down after a few hours—days it seemed for me. I was in my car, waiting... staring.

There was a slight shuffle, and through the darkness of the night, her shadow in her room became clearer. She was standing up near the window, and the curtains moved an inch. I knew she would see me. I wasn't quite sure though if she'd be happy to see me.

Her movement was very light. She paced in front of that window as if confused. Then I saw her pick up a wireless phone. "She is going to call me." I thought to myself. But as soon as her head started bobbing as if motioning that she was already animatedly talking through the receiver. My hope died down as quickly as a small lit candle submerged in a deep basin filled with icy cold water.

I watched patiently as she sat in front of her window sill. Her head was in between her knees. I could almost hear what she was saying.

After a few more minutes, she placed the phone down and stared through the curtain. It was enough for me to see her silhouette from the outside.

"Tomorrow morning will be a new day. She'll forgive you, Anthony." My mind placated.

My eyes wandered restlessly in the dark night. Then a gold to a brownish colored car with dark tinted windows pulled up in front of her house.

That wasn't her parents' car. It was not her siblings' car either since they were in an out-of-town trip with their aunt or something. It made me uneasy looking at the car which seemed more familiar to me more than it should.

I squinted behind the wheel and saw the Anberlin University gate pass sticker on its windshield. It must be one of her friends. She was more in pain than I've thought. I mean, if she wasn't, would that friend hurry to her house at an ungodly hour?

And Justin stepped out of the car, casually walking towards her house with a bag of take-out.

"No." I gasped. "No..." My hands tightened on the steering wheel.

It can't be him.

This was not a decent time to visit. Not a decent time to comfort a female friend, not at all okay.

Not ever.

I had to know what was going on. I started the engine and moved the car towards the backside of a big tree. I got out and ran towards the house.

I could get sued with trespassing, and since I was already 18 I'm sure I could get in trouble and be in prison for at least 24-hours before Antoinette finds out and busts me out. I recalled my childhood games, climbing trees were never my specialty, but I knew I always worked better under stress and tension.

I hesitated only a split-second as I jumped at the flaky old trunk of the big tree that stood beside Felice's room. The light was still on, and I knew that Justin has reached her room by now. I climbed the tree, scraping my shirt and my pants along the way. If I had cuts,I didn't feel it.

From where I was seated—on a pretty-thin branch, I was in front of another window with a light curtain. I could see both their shadows now, sitting beside each other with what I knew was Felice's bed. I could also hear them, quite clearly than what I had expected since I was rather near the room's air condition motor.

"What happened? Tell me." Justin's voice was quietly wavering with the steady thudding of the motor.

"It was true, it was all true. He had a bet, and he wanted Karen. I didn't know." She sobbed. "I didn't know." She sobbed in his chest.

"It's alright, Felice. He doesn't deserve you." He hushed as he gently soothed her hair. "I told you what happened to me. They are not exactly the kind of company you would want to keep."

I mashed my teeth together. If I only wasn't sitting on a tree outside that room, I would've punched the breath out of that man.

"Thank you, Justin. You're the only one who doesn't lie to me." She raised her head to his face.

I knew where this was going and I couldn't take it. They were alone. They were alone in her room. And she's vulnerable!

I had to do something before—

What the actual flying fuck? He kissed her! He—

This is a nightmare.

He kissed her! I can see it. I can see their heads moving. It was a shadow, but boy was it damn clear to me!

She couldn't be that angry with me! Justin was only taking advantage of the situation. I... I...

"Are you sure?" Justin asked as they pulled away. I felt as if my heart erratically thudding faster than the motor beside me. I was angry, but I felt so restrained and powerless.

I wanted to scream!

"Yes. He didn't deserve me. You do." She replied as he kissed her again! He laid her down on the bed and removed his shirt.

A few seconds later, I couldn't see their shadows anymore.

"No, no... No. NO!" I screamed in agony as I felt heavier by the second. The branch beneath me cracked, and everything else happened simultaneously.

I fell in the depths of hell.
