"I can't believe I'm being made to share oxygen with a bunch of individuals with IQ's lower than yours ", Simi said to her brother who was done listening to the unending rants of her sister.
"OH NO! the world is coming to an end. Noah lend us your ark. For crissakes do you ever shut up and listen to yourself ", said Ayo, holding his pack of comic collections. He treasured them more than anything. Heck they were even limited editions. He'd once joked that he'd one day trade his sister for them if need be. He'd been stuffing his bags with literally everything his hands could touch. Mom had to send Simi down to supervise and make sure he wasn't smuggling his PlayStation which he'd been recently banned from because of his relenting grades.
"Sometimes I wonder if you were adopted", Simi said obviously on edge.
"Yeah I know right. Maybe cause mom probably got tired of your nagging and needed someone to put you in your place", Ayo retaliated.
"Ma gba eti e (I'll slap you), Simi said now moving towards Ayo with bad intent. She was just about handing Ayo his backside just as her mom walked in, calling her irresponsible and Ayo disrespectful.
"You'd both better get ready in time before the bus arrives. Abi shey eminikan ni iya to wa laye yi bayi (or I'm I the only mother on earth?)

Simi somewhat still hurt by her mother's statement stood in line for the bus with her best friend Tolani. She was older than Simi, black, a tad bustier than her bestie. A topic they'd argued from time to time literally everywhere, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, even during face time. They were in their final high school year. Prior to the school standard, they had compulsory excursions every session. This time they were visiting the great city of Benin.
"Mind if I cut in line", said Folarin to Simi , smiling broadly with perfect set of teeth and dimple. All these seemed to have no effect on Simi who'd since day one zeroed all interest on him. They'd always been on their throats. Arguments after arguments. Tolani would sometimes tease and call it lover's quarrel which would always aggravate Simi's fragile temper. She'd known her for seven years, so she already knew a bottle of Zobo, her favorite drink, would do the apology trick.
"And good morning to you too, isn't it too early to be cutting things"
"Only thing I want to be cutting right now is that cute tinnie little Yoruba accent of yours"
"Don't like it?  Pa ara e (Kill yourself). At least I'm not ignoring my roots and spending valuable time rehearsing fake British accents"
"If I remember correctly, they did give you independence" Folarin said smiling
"Pff give me a break"
"A-ha gotcha"
"Dudeee", Simi stressed, not liking Folarin's short chuckles.
"You guys should get a room walahi (I swear) ena fit", Tolani said, she couldn't get enough of their every argument.
"I love you but FUCK you", Simi said sarcastically.
"Love you too shuga", Tolani laughing now shifted and allowed Folarin Cut in and stay in front of her, which was right behind Simi. "Hope you didn't forget anything sha", she asked.
"Nah I'm all good. Ma worry (Don't worry)", he said
"You sure you didn't forget your sense of reasoning", asked Simi rethorically as she leaned back to Folarin whilst Tolani couldn't help cracking up.
"I'd say FUCK you but oh well", replied Folarin chuckling as they got into the bus. As fate would have it both Folarin and Simi sat together while Tolani sat opposite. She begged Tola to swap seats but Tola was hell bent on it being fate and besides she was seating with basically the hottest guy so she could care less.
"It's gon' be a loooong ride", said Folarin
"In your dreams", Simi said reaching for her airpods and realizing she left them at home during her rift with Ayo.
"Fuck", she said under her breathe
"Yeah, it's gonna be ducking awesome", Folarin said smiling this time.
