The bus parked at a nearby Park while the students all came out to try to get some fresh air. The bus driver was busy trying to reach any nearby car repair shop, it seemed the bump wasn't just minor. They were stuck. Everyone else but the driver could be less bothered. They all just came out with their friends having fun wishing they'd just stop there already. Tolani was still hooked onto the hot guy, Tobi. The school's senior prefect. He was well toned, very well built, even for his age. He would be eighteen by July compared to Tolani who was barely seventeen.
Folarin had kept his promise. Although it seemed now that Simi had now shifted her attention away from him and to her drink. Fola stared at her. He's always liked her. He just really never spoke about it. He loved every argument they had. Long after he lost his dad, he never really found interest I'm doing anything... Liking anything or anybody. Until Simi. Why was he so obsessed, he knew not. One thing was for sure, for now he wasn't going to stop till she felt the same he did.
"Kuku swallow the bottle", Fola teased as they sat on a pavement facing the road.
"Omo ale (Bastard)", Simi teased as she finally let go of the bottle.
"Finally", Fola said chuckling as Simi gave him the middle finger in retaliation.
"So what's your question gon' be", She said.
"Yeah right. I've always wanted to ask this"
"Okay?", Simi stressed. Curious now. "What's your issue with white people exactly, if I didn't know better I'd say you were racist", Fola said as he saw Simi's lips curve into a smile.
"Nothing personally. I just don't like how blacks look to white as gods yunno. Like they can never be wrong. White is good, Black is bad. The stereotype has bled deep into us that we don't even know it's there. It's really bad. They're the smart one's and we're just riding they dicks for real yunno. They gave us the computer, fans, civilization, blah blah blah fucking blah", she said.
"They did give us independence yunno. It's absolutely normal to want to emulate or imitate them in some aspects. Besides, independence happens to be my favorite holiday", Folarin said.
"I look at celebrating independence as us celebrating the day the whites got tired of bitching us around"
"If they still led us doncha think life would've been a tad better than it is right now"
"Lies! We'd just be nothing but a giant oil mine field to them", Simi tackled.
"Wow", Fola laughed.
"I hate how we tend to seek everything from them. Acceptance, recognition, awards. Heck they even imposed their own religions on us. Pff"
"Nah no one imposed anything. Maybe at first. Religion is a choice. I'm a Christian by choice. No one imposed shit", reaffirmed Fola.
"You should think so. You are a Christian because your parents are, so you were raised as one. If you were born in Northern Nigeria where your parents were Muslims, your argument would have been different. Who knows, you may be married to an eighteen year old by now", Simi teased.
"Then you'd probably be that eighteen year old", said Fola as he smiled and held her hands.
Simi still couldn't get enough of his touch. His hands were as soft as the hands of a newborn. Fola had just shot his shot she thought. "That was one hell of a shot" she'd thought. Her heart nearly skipped when Fola chose to intertwine their fingers. She couldn't control her blush. "Oh lord! I'm liking Fola. This stupid boy. No!! I hate him. He's not fine! He's a jerk. He's a ...". Her thoughts were interrupted as soon as Fola leaned in and placed his lips on hers. At first she resisted. Fola deepened and placed his hands on her cheeks using the other to adjust her hair. Simi could care less now as she accepted him and reached in with her tongue wanting to taste all of him. She loved the taste of his lips "God he was a good kisser". She thought as she moaned softly. Slowly, Folarin withdrew leaving Simi aghast, still in awe of what had just happened. There was an awkward silence for a moment till Folarin decided to take the first step in starting the conversation.
"I'm sorry if i startled you", he said shyly
"It's fine", replied a more shy Simi.
"I like you", Fola said.
"Okayy... Aren't you the fastest", Simi said trying to put up her walls.
"It's just not the kiss Simi. That means nothing. Nothing compared to how I feel about you", Folarin said realizing his speech may had come out wrong, "No that's not what I meant", he tried to control the damage.
"Wow... You're still a jerk", Simi said, tears forming already.
"Hey Sims.. I didn't mean it th... "
"Just... Leave me alone", she said as she wiped her eyes quickly, looking around trying to see if anyone saw what had happened.
"Simi just wait a sec", Folarin said as he held her hand trying to stop her from leaving.
"AVOID ME", she said as she removed his hands. She didn't even look back at him as she hurried to where Tolani stood and hugged her Tolani who wanted to know what had happened saw Fola looking mad about something and figured out it probably had something to do with him. He hadn't looked that way since the night they lost their father.
