"What's wrong Simi... Hey? ", Tolani pressed as she softly stroked her hair." Are you okay? ", she'd seen her friend down... Even at her lowest, but this, this was different. She was actually in tears and she wasn't stopping.
" No. Just forget about it okay. It's not worth it", she said as she left her best friend's comfort and headed back into the empty bus.
Tolani still concerned about the incident went to where her brother was stood.
"What did you do this time", she said taking a stand as if in a jury.
"Why does it always have to be me at fault"
"Because it's you Fola. It's always you", she yelled this time. This got an unexpectant Fola shook. This was something Tola had ever done. Not in front of him anyway.
"Ever since dad died...", she continued and paused to get a grip, "you just fucking shut everyone out! You shut me out Fola! Me!", she said as tears began to form.
"Tolani.. ", Fola said placing a hand to her shoulder but she wasn't having it. She shifted and wiped her tears.
"I don't really care now anyway... Just WHATEVER you'd done to get Simi that mad... Fix it!", she said as she walked away to where Simi was seated in the bus.Fola sat by the roadside where he'd earlier kissed Simi and probably just got on the nerves of two people he'd cherished for as long as he could remember. "How do I fix this mess", he thought as he stared into his little notebook. He tore out a page and wrote a couple notes directed to Simi. If she wouldn't see him then she'd just have to read from him then, he thought.
After sometime the school bus was ready to move. The school driver has asked everyone back in. This took a while being some had roamed round trying to explore the spot. When they were all finally in, Fola got to his seat only to realize Simi had traded places with one of the other student who desperately wanted a window seat view and also the company of the 'Gorgeous Fola'. He found himself quite hurt but then he sorta deserved it so he just moved slowly to his seat, fist bumping some of the guys who were teasing his new hair cut. As if in a Bollywood movie, their eyes met and suddenly there was this tension, this electricity between them. Fola didn't want it to end but then he could see the hurt in her eyes and it stung. He'd put it there. He tried to say something but she looked away.
He sat down and stated at were Simi was seated and smiled. He liked her. He wanted her. He was going to get her. He walked over to where she was seated and gave her the note he'd torn out.
"Don't shut me out", Fola said, "just take a look... At least".
"you don't just give up do you", Simi said, totally with no trace of emotion.
"I don't give up on things that matter to me", he said sensing that he'd definitely hit a nerve. He turned to walk away then stopped for a while. He exhaled, turned and gave her his notebook.
"What's this for? ", Simi said knowing fully well that Fola had never given that book to anyone.
"It's yours", Fola said, "Take good care of it", he concluded as he walked away leaving Simi in awe.
"I hate that boy", Simi uttered under her breath and looked away and then to the notes on her hand.
"Y'all are cute", her seat mate said.
"Hahaha. Funny", she said as she gave her the middle finger while she was still being teased.
