Freedom.
Freedom in three hours.
Excitement and fear trailed through Aces veins. His mind was intoxicated with overwhelming thoughts.
Did he really want to leave? This was his second home.
Everyone was so nice.
Nice doesn't last forever Ace. All we know is they are nice because they are getting paid.
Be glad you're leaving.
Is he glad to leave?Of course, he was glad too. It meant he would see Kyla more often. In more homely places rather than the same room over and over again.
"We have three hours Ace before you leave. Don't you want to say goodbye to everyone?" Ace nodded, bile in his throat.
Ace followed Angie to surrounding rooms, entering each room saying goodbyes. However, the last room was the hardest.
In the room was Aces dear friend. Who's been for him through thick and thin.
Ace entered the final room, slowly walking his being careful not to make any sudden noise.Ace and him were always best friends. They met in high school. It was Ace's first day, he had moved to another city as his parents had found a new job. Ace didn't mind though, he was glad to leave. Too many bad memories that Ace couldn't handle. So they decided to leave.
Ace wondered inside the school building, bumping into a few people and receiving glares.
He sighed anxious to find his class and get on with his day. He held his class schedule in his shaking hands and stared at the paper and then back at the doors. He did this repeatedly until he finally gave up.
After a long few minutes, he finally found his classroom. Placing his hand in the doorknob he took a deep breath. However, the bell went and students poured out of the classroom.
He groaned as the first bell.
He missed his first lesson.
"That went well." He muttered and tried to find his next lesson.
"Found it." Ace said happily and walked towards the room once again.
"Oh sorry."
Nice one Ace.
First, you missed your first lesson.
And now you're walking into people. Ruining their day.
The only person who's day is being ruined is mine. And it's your fault. Stop talking to me."Are you okay there man?" Ace looked up and was greeted by a tall green-eyed boy.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry I didn't mean to walk into you." Ace quickly went to the ground to retrieve the fallen books that belonged to both him and the green eyes boy.
"Oh, it's fine." The boy crouched to the ground also retrieving his books.
They both stood up, once again Ace apologised."Stop apologise it's not your fault. Are you new here?" Ace nodded his head. The boy held out his hand waiting for Ace to respond.
"What?"
"Your schedule let me see it."
"Oh right." Ace chuckled nervously and handed to him."You had Maths first with me. Why did you miss it? I didn't see you there."
"Because-"
"Because it's such a terrible lesson so you decided to skip. I get it. But it's your first day, not creating a very good impression.""It's not that-"
"You don't like meeting new people."
"No, I-"
"You-"
"Will you just let me finish?!" Ace shouted. His hands were in tight fists and his breathing became ragged."Sorry man. Didn't mean to make you angry. Why weren't you in the first lesson?"
"I couldn't find the class." Ace said sheepishly, every ounce of anger released from his body.
"Well, you have almost every class with me. So stick with me and you'll be fine." The boy smiled and put his arm around his shoulder, walking the pair towards their next lesson.
Ace did exactly that. He stuck with his best friend through thick and thin.
"So you're leaving then?"
"Yeah, I am."
"You're just like the others. Leaving me."
"It's not like that. I-"
"Save it. We made a pact. We came in here together. And we leave together."
"But I can't just-""Have a nice life Ace. I'm sure you will with that girl." The boy rolled his eyes in annoyance.
He was here for ace first. Picking him up when he fell down. The first day he was here for Ace.
And then she shows up. Taking his best friend away from him."What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean Ace." His temper rose. His heart began to pump with adrenaline.
Anger that he had been holding in for three years had finally been allowed to be released. It was just being released on the wrong person. After all, "anger is nothing more than an outward expression of hurt, fear and frustrations."
"You promised me Ace. I promised you. We both promised to leave together. And now suddenly that girl comes in and takes you away from me. I'm your best friend! I'm your brother Ace." The last few words came out as a mere whisper. But it was loud enough to shatter Aces heart.
"I just wanted to say goodbye. I'll miss you...Kent."
"Have a nice life!" Kent spat sardonically. He pushed the papers off his desk causing them to scatter the dirty ground. He laid his head in the table and cried.
"I'll miss you too Ace."
