"Were coming up right behind you"

Deeks heard Sam say through the radio. They were chasing and terrorist group who were planning to bomb half of the population of Los Angeles. Everything was moving so fast, like life was in fast forward. It was hard to see through the windscreen due to all of the dirt covering it like a blanket. Deeks and Kensi were close to the van, if she could just get next to it, Deeks would be able to take out the driver.
The back doors of the vehicle opened and machine guns started to fire, piecing the glass. Their car skidded to the left and came to an abrupt stop. Deeks wound down his window and started firing at the van, one bullet clipped the tire and slowed it down. Callen and Sam quickly over took and continued to follow.

"Nice shot Deeks" Sam said as he became closer to the blue van. Deeks laughed and turned to Kensi, "That was.." Deeks began but was interrupted by Kensi "Deeks!" she cried removing her hand from her chest to revel a large bullet hole close to her heart. Kensi started to become limp in her seat."No no no, Kensi stay with me!" Deeks said his voice shaking. He got out of the car and ran to the driver's side. He pulled Kensi out so that he could lie her down and stop the bleeding.
"Deeks are you all good?" Callen asked over the radio.
"Kensi's....Kensi hit" Deeks could feel himself sweating, he knew it was bad. Kensi began losing consciousness. She had been shot before, in the arm, in the leg, even the chest, with a vest on of course. But this time it felt different, oddly enough she didn't feel pain like she had expected she would if she ever got properly shot. She felt tired and she was happy to have Deeks by her side.

"Kensi you stay with me" Deeks pleaded "Nell can you hear me? I need and ambulance here now! It's bad". Kensi could feel her self slipping in and out of consciousness. Deeks was kneeling next to her applying pressure to her wound I wasn't helping much, but she felt safer with him being there. "Kensi, you know you can't die after you are the one who made me promise not to get myself killed, that rule counts for you too!" he was trying to make light of a terrible situation, it was working somewhat. Kensi smiled, but it wasn't the happy smiled Deeks had always seen. Her breathing was becoming shallow. Deeks could hear the ambulance coming closer and he looked up to see if he could see them. "Kensi their here!, it's going to be alright" he looked down but Kensi had become unconscious once again. "Kensi, Kensi wake up! Kensi!" The ambulance pulled up next to where Deeks had Kensi. "We'll take it from her Mr Deeks.
They took her away quickly, laying her onto the stretcher and putting her into the back of the van. Deeks watched as they drove away his eyes filling with tears.
"What happened?" Callen's voice suddenly appeared behind Deeks and he wiped his face free from emotion.
"Kensi um, she was shot, single bullet to the chest, it was um" Deeks cleared his throat "close to her heart, so I dunno if"
"Deeks... Kensi's strong, she gonna be fine" Callen reassured him

Deeks sat in the waiting room in the Hospital. He had been waiting for what seemed like hours and what made it worse, was that he was all alone, no one was there to tell him it would all be okay and no one was there for him to makes jokes with, sometimes it helped him make light of bad situations. Minuets past and Deeks found himself constantly checking the clock like a kid waiting to get out of class. He got up and walked around every now and then hoping that someone would notice him and give him an update. He was standing at the vending machine when Sam and Callen walked in. "Deeks, any news" Callen asked. "Nope, just um, been standing here, you know, for hours" Deeks replied almost sarcastically. The bag of chips fell from the top shelf and Deeks grabbed them and returned to his seat. Sam and Callen followed and took a seat next to him. "Did you catch them?" Deeks asked. "Yeah, they put up a fight but Granger has them in custody" Sam answered. Deeks nodded but didn't feel the need to reply. He stared down at his hands. A doctor walked into the waiting room, he was wearing blue scrubs. Deeks shot out of his seat looking for an answer to all his questions in the man's eyes. "Mr Deeks I presume?" the doctor asked. "Yeah that's me" he replied. "and what relation are you to Miss Blye?" the doctor asked. Deeks suddenly didn't know what to say, he knew that the doctor wouldn't give out information to anyone that wasn't a relation of Kenzie's and he wanted more than anything to know what was going on and to see her face. "I'm her, partner" Deeks cleared his throat.
