Athena Becker and Harry Styles grew up attached by the hip. Best friends, would never dare go anywhere without one another. But, in third grade, their friendship takes a new turn. Harry Styles ditches her for popular kids, and, due to peer pressure, cuts all ties with her. It was a final effort to become popular, and it works. Harry becomes the boy all girls have crushes on. In turn, he leaves Athena in the dust to start over and try to meet new friends, all of whom want nothing to do with her.

Fast foward a few years. In 6th grade a new boy moves to Holmes Chapel, Zayn Malik, his family desprately trying to escape a secret. Zayn befriends Athena, and they together tough it through being outcasts. Athena learns his family's secret, and although she doesn't agree, she promises Zayn that she will keep it one- a secret. And by 8th grade, the tables have turned. Athena is accepted into a new group of girls with welcoming arms. Finally, she found herself a group of good friends, Makayla, Jackie, and Lindsay. Zayn finds himself in the same situation, meeting a group of boys, Niall, Liam, and Louis. They both find themselves, for once, happy.

Four years pass. They're seniors, and Harry Styles has a problem. What happens when Harry finds that he's falling for someone... and that someone is out of his reach. Athena. And what happens when Athena thinks that she might be... maybe... there's a possiblity... she just might be falling for him to? But that's not all... Zayn? Athena's best friend? Well, that's not the title he wants for himself anymore. Over the years Zayn has been developing feelings for Athena. And soon enough, he's falling for her too. Secretly. Not only that, but Zayn's family issues worsen to the point where they're threatening to expose themselves. Can Zayn handle this? Will Athena realize that she's falling for the wrong guy? Will Harry realize that he's falling for the wrong girl?
