Chapter 23

(4 years later)

  Emerson and I have been dating for at least 5 years and I couldn't be happier. I love this man and I don't know what I'll do without him. He has asked me to go to someplace in the woods and to wear semi-fancy clothes. I didn't know what he had planned but he has been gone since this morning. He left me some (favorite breakfast food) with a note that says "I love you." I tried to get him to tell me what he was doing, but he's not budging. Larisa and Monica had came over and took me out to get my nails done. I ask if they knew what Emerson was planning and they just laughed.

  "Something important" Larisa said as the two giggled some more. I grew suspicious. Maybe Emerson planned on distracting me while he doing something. I don't know what. It bothered me a little. 

  We went to Larisa's and Sebastian's house afterward and braided each other's hair. They were for sure trying to hide something from me, which they are bad at. "I feel like you guys are hiding something from me," I said and they looked at each other with nervous expressions.

  "What do you mean?" Monica asked nervously.

  "It's obvious that you guys are hiding something from me so you should tell me," I plead.

  "Well, we can't tell you. It's top-secret," Larisa said. 

  "Ugh fine." I sighed because I know how stubborn they are. We continued to kill time before Larisa got a call and left the room. "I wonder what that's about." I said to Monica.

  She giggled, "I don't know it might be good news." 

  "Just tell me already!" I said with a giggled. I loved her, but she is a pain.

  "Okay, we have to leave now so get in the car." Larisa demanded. 

  "Oooh! Where we going?" I asked. 

  "Somewhere, I can't say though," she smirked. 

  "Ugh of course," I complained. The two girls just laughed at me. 

  "Oh! I call shotgun!" Monica yelled. 

Time skip

  We started to go to this wooded area and it was already dark, but there was this path that was lit up by fairy lights. "This is our stop." Larisa stopped the car. 

  "What are we doing here?" I questioned. 

  "You'll see sweetheart." Larisa giggled. We followed the lit path for a while till I saw Emerson in a suit with flowers in his hands. He looked so handsome. There was music playing and table with some alfredo(change it if you want) on it. I looked around to see more fairy lights. Larisa and Monica were gone and it was only me and Emerson. 

  "So was this what they were hiding from me?" I asked as he walked closer to me.

  "Yeah, kind of." he nervously scratched the back of his head. 

  "It looks really nice," I said in awe of the beautiful sight. 

  "Yeah it took a lot of work to set up all the lights and its gonna be a bitch to get down." He chucked. 

  "Yeah it looks like it" I giggled. For some reason, Emerson looked really nervous. 

  "Well, let's eat, shall we." He said as he led me to the table. 

  "This looks really good," I said as we sat down."

  "Yeah, its from Olive Garden." he nervously chuckled.   

  We ate and talked, which was weirdly relaxing. I could tell Emerson was nervous or looked like he wanted to say something. I didn't want to pressure him in telling me so I just let it be. While I was taking a drink, he got up and stood beside me. He got on one knee and I was about to choke on my drink, but I composed myself. 

  "Y/n, these have been the best 5 years of my life. You make me feel special in a different way that no one has ever made me. We had our arguments, but I could never stay mad at you. Just look how adorable and precious you are. Like mwah, perfection! Not only do you have good looks, but you also have an amazing personality. Y/n, you help everyone who needs it. Even if its a complete stranger. So I'm going to ask you this very important question. Will you marry me?"

  I had mixed emotions. I was shocked and happy. I started crying tears of joy as I engulf Emerson in a bear hug. "Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes!" I yelled as I kissed him all over his face. I can't believe I am engaged with the Emerson Barrett! I love him and forever will.
