My Reasons Why

A search crew sent from heaven,

For the sighting of a sin,

But as false as they said it was,

Little were we prepared to face.

The grounds around the mansion,

Fog enveloping the view,

Hiding what was waiting for us,

No doubt rising in its wake.

Magnificent in its glory,

Marble statues cold and tall,

Glancing down in shadows,

Showing off the great wealth.

The backyard was approaching,

A maze forming from the hedge,

A ceiling topping the bushes,

No way to fly once inside.

One by one we entered,

Splitting off as we do,

Doing our normal check around,

The sin hiding his traces well.

Walking without hesitation,

Going through the turns,

Hitting dead ends every time,

A picture waiting for me at their end.

Cruel was the image they showed me,

My old fears rising in my chest,

Worry that drives me crazy,

Going wild in my mind again.

Wandering desperately in the darkness,

Blundering on the uneven ground,

No sound reaching my deaf ears,

Until over something I did trip.

Strewn on the grass before me,

Like marble, hard and cold,

An angel that I came here with,

Eyes now lifeless and dull.

Dead by the hands of evil,

Their pure light now put out,

No signs of how their end had come,

Yet familiar to my eyes.

Running from my companion,

Soon finding another four,

All in the same ruined state,

Driving logic from my mind.

"Do you see what will become of them,

"Do you see how they did fall,

"Do you see why they have fallen,

"Is this the choice you want for them?"

The voice came from around me,

No way to find the source,

Darkness holding me closer,

No way to do anything.

"I see your thoughts and feelings,

"All three of us see them clear,

"A love that is in danger,

"But no heart to give them yet.

"How do you plan to save them,
