"I know you're mad that I stopped replying but my dad took away my computer. Sorry really." Lyra said as we walked together with Holiday, her dog ahead of us yapping along and chasing butterflies.
"It's alright. I was just curious. After all, it was kinda abrupt. But on the bright side, at least you contacted. Lizzie didn't contact Chris at all and he's weeping like a baby." I said. She nodded in understanding.
"Poor thing. So what's it with you. What're you doing in London?" She asked.
"Me and the boys got a concert here. Gonna be here for a week. Then we're gonna go back to New York. What about you? What's a pretty girl like you doin around in the park, walking with a crazy dog who likes to smell me?" I asked cheekily.
She giggled and blushed. She looked so cute when she's embarassed.
"Just needed some time away from the house and why Holiday can smell you, he uh smelled the jacket you gave me and I guess it kinda matches with the scent. He's good that way." She said. Holiday barked and gave me a wet sloppy kiss. Lyra giggled.
"I take it he likes you. He likes anyone that makes me happy or laugh." She said. I smirked.
"Oh so I'm what makes you happy? Sweetheart, you just caught the Ballinger fever." I said. Lyra rolled her eyes.
"Wow. And I thought Chris was cocky." Sje said sarcastically. I chuckled.
"Yeah. He grows on me." I said. We were still walking when I caught sight of a flyer. It read , "CARNIVAL TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7PM. GAMES, SHOWS AND MUCH MORE AWAIT!"
I held the flyer out to Lyra.
"Any chance you're free tomorrow night?" I asked. She looked at me, a small smile on her face.
"Matthew Ballinger, are you asking me out?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Pretty much."
"Then, yes. I'll love to go to the carnival with you tomorrow night." She said. I grinned.
"So, shall we say, 6pm I pick you up from your house?"
The moment I mentioned her house, a flash of panic spread across her face before she gained composure.
"Uhm, that won't be necessary. I'll just meet you at the carnival."
I wanted to ask what was wrong but I decided not to and instead, said, "So, tomorrow night, 6pm at the carnival?"
"It's a date." She replied, smiling that angelic smile of hers.
Suddenly, a buzzing noise of a cell phone sounded. Lyra reached into her pocket and picked up the phone.
"Hello? What? Oh. Yeah I'll be right there." When she hung up, she looked at me, a worried look on her face.
"I have to go. I'm sorry. Um, I'll call you! I swear." She said before whistling for Holiday.
"Everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. Just, my dad got in trouble with the law again. Apparently, he punched a sanitation worker. I gotta go. Um, see you tomorrow okay?" She said. I nodded and she took off with Holiday. As I walked back to the hotel, I sighed happily at the fact that I found love, and she appeared in the face of an angel.
