MYSTIC FALLS HIGH

"HAVE YOU EVEN talked to Bonnie?" Elsie asks as her and Caroline walk into school a few days later. Elsie hasn't spoken to Stefan since, and he's ignored all of her calls and texts. It worries her, but she's hesitant to go to his house. So she's been going on with life as usual, which involves talking with her very human friend.

She knows Caroline's mom, Sheriff Forbes knows about the supernatural world, but she also knows how protective Liz is of Caroline. There's no way she'd allow her daughter to be involved in it.

"No. I'm mad at her. She needs to make the first move," Caroline huffs, annoyed at the thought of the Bennett witch.

"You could try being the bigger person," Elsie suggests, only for Caroline to immediately shoot the idea down.

"Impossible in her presence."

"Why are you guys even fighting?" Elsie narrows her eyes curiously at the Forbes girl.

"She's a thief. That's why. I gave her my necklace, and she refuses to give it back. It's a matter of principle."

"Alright, well, Elena asked me to try to fix things between you and Bonnie, but I clearly can't," Elsie sighs in defeat. "I'm Switzerland from now on."

"Good. Your turn," Caroline finally gets a chance to ask the question she's been dying to ask. "What's going on with you and Stefan?"

"He's avoiding me," Elsie answers, a bitter expression finding its way onto her face.

He shouldn't of just dropped a bomb on her like that and then disappeared. She has so many questions she's been dying to ask. Mostly about if he ended up killing Damon or not. Not knowing this, Caroline raises an eyebrow. "Why?"

"It's a long, complicated story," Elsie huffs as the bell rings. She waves at Caroline before hurrying to her history class.

Her new teacher stands at the front of the room with a nervous expression as Elsie notices how down Bonnie looks. She gingerly turns her head towards Bonnie and mouths. "Are you okay?"

Bonnie shrugs tiredly as the teacher writes his name on the board in chalk. "Alaric Saltzman. It's a mouthful. I know. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Saltzman is of German origins. My family emigrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston. Now, the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather I will never be able to thank enough. You'll probably want to announce it 'Ala-ric,' but it's 'A-lar-ic,' ok? So you can call me Rick. I'm your new history teacher."

Elsie smiles at him, already liking him far more than Mr.Tanner.
