Chapter Three
{ Apologies }
A few days passed and Frank still was stunned from what you said to him that day. He didn't know that he hurt you that badly, and he's never realized what he's done to you up until you opened his eyes for him. He peeked into Mary's room, seeing that she was still sound asleep. He closes it quietly and walks over to the window, he brushes the curtains aside and peers outside the window, staring at your house. You haven't been out of your house for the past days and Frank has been worrying about you.
''Frank.. What are you doing?'' mary croaks, making frank jump.
He turns around, seeing Mary rubbing her eyes in tiredness. It seemed that she just barely woke up.
''I'm sorry Mary. Did I wake you?'' he asks, closing the curtains immediately.
''What were you looking at?'' she asks, pointing at the curtains that were now closed.
''Oh.. Nothing. Just.. Checking if the mail was still in our slot.'' frank shrugs, pushing mary gently back to her room.
''You were looking at Y/N's house weren't you.'' she grins, waking up a little bit more.
''No.. No I was not.'' frank denies.
''Whatever Frank. You're such a bad liar.'' mary winks before getting shoved back into her room.
Frank shuts her door, telling her to go back to sleep. She followed his command and hopped back onto her bed, falling straight back to sleep. Frank turned and stared at the door. He was deciding whether he should go to your house and see if you were actually still there or not. But he finally came to a decision to just go out and get the mail first.
Than maybe after that getting the mail, he would visit your house. Frank nodded and went outside. He started walking towards the mail slots, constantly glancing at your house, hoping you would open the door and come out. He finally reached it and than got out his mail, looking over his shoulder back at your house. When he saw that nothing was going to happen, he sighed in disappointment and looked at his mail.
His eyes went wide as he saw your name on the mail that he was holding. But after he blinked, it revealed that it never said your name in the first place, he was just imagining it. He sighed started to look through all his mail, suddenly hearing someone walking up. He looked up and saw that it was Roberta.
''Hey Frank.'' she says, walking over to her mail slot.
''Hey Roberta..'' he sighs, continuing looking through the mail.
''So.. That fight you had with that woman a few days ago.. You alright?'' she asks, making frank snap his head up at her.
''What are you–''
''I was watching from my place hon.'' she answered for him.
Frank sighed and shook his head, he tried to distract himself from that afternoon but it just wasn't going away.
''She looked real mad at you..'' roberta sighs, shaking her head.
''Look,'' frank threw the mail to the ground and pointed his finger at Roberta. ''It's Y/N's fault because she kissed Jacob back, and from where I was standing, it looked a whole like she was enjoying it.'' frank growled.
''Well, have you ever heard her side of the story? Because maybe what you saw wasn't what really happened.'' roberta shrugs.
Frank got caught up in his words, Roberta patted him on the shoulder and than walked back to her house. Frank inhaled deeply.
''I need to clear my head.'' frank exhales, shaking his head.
He marched his way to his truck. He got into the truck and started driving to the place where he could always clear his mind.. The bar.
***
When he reached the bar, there were loads of people as always. He entered the bar and looked for the seat that he usually sat in. When he found it, surprisingly, there was already somebody in it. He was about to yell at the person to get out until he got closer.. His mouth dropped as he saw that it was you.
''Y/N? Is that you?'' frank asks, reaching his hand out as he got closer.
Another woman turned around, making Frank flush. It wasn't you. He shook his head and immediately apologized.
''I'm sorry ma'm.. I thought you were.. Um, someone else.'' frank sighs, holding his head.
The woman didn't care and turned back around, making Frank look for another place to sit. As he searched, the place was to packed for him to find a place. He decided to just come back when it wasn't full. He left the bar and started to walk down the sidewalk, trying to clear his head. He tried not to think of you, your face, your voice or your name.
But wherever he went, something was there that just reminded him of you. He just decided to get away from where he was and to go to the park. He got back into his truck and started driving to the park.
***
When he arrived, he got out and saw the park filled with little kids laughing and having fun. He leaned against his truck and folded his arms, smiling at the fun that the kids were having. His eyes suddenly fell upon a young woman sitting on a bench. He tilted his head, seeing if was really you and he wasn't imagining things. Whatever the case was, he was willing to risk it. He wanted to talk to you, and apologize.
Frank started walking towards the bench, calling out your name. You looked up and gasped as you saw that Frank somehow found you.
''Y/N! I need to talk to you!'' he called out, increasing his pace.
''Frank. I don't want to talk to you.'' you say, throwing your purse strap over your shoulder.
You stand up and started heading the opposite direction from him. You could hear him calling out your name and he started to say stuff, but you just tuned him out. You started to fast walk towards your car, as soon as you reached your car, you unlocked it and opened your car. You got in hastily and slammed the door shut. You shoved your key into your car and turned it, your heart dropping as you heard the sputtering of the engine.
Unfortunately, your engine gave out and it died on you. You yelled in anger and hit your steering wheel, accidentally hitting the honker. You looked out the other window and saw that Frank was standing outside of your car. You rolled your eyes and got out, ignoring him completely as he tried to get your attention.
''Y/N. I can help fix your car.'' frank says, walking behind your car.
You stopped and turned around, crossing your arms. You narrowed your eyes at him and than rolled your eyes.
''And how do you think you can do that?'' you scoff, shaking your head.
''I fix boats.. It shouldn't be to hard.'' frank shrugs.
''Whatever. I'd rather walk home.'' you snap, turning back around.
''Y/N! I'm sorry! Okay? I'm sorry that I hurt you back in high school, I wasn't thinking straight. But I have been thinking, and it opened my eyes. I realized that I was an idiot.'' frank shouted, catching your attention.
You stopped in your footsteps and looked at him over your shoulder. You saw in his eyes that he meant it. But you just couldn't just give him your trust back straight away. He would have to earn your trust back. You decided not to say a word and just continued to walk down the sidewalk, leaving Frank completely hopeless.
