So I've been pretty quiet with my Pokémon AU story (which is nicknamed "TOSOP") and on wattpad in general. And that's just because I've been busy with high school stuff and I struggled with fixing TOSOP. I didn't have a plan when I started typing it, I found it painful to read, and the plot I was going for was way too similar to "The Outsiders" written by S. E. Hinton. If you don't know what The Outsiders is about, than you can just go look it up.
I started writing TOSOP in middle school (around grade 7-8), so I was in that edgy artist phase that all tweens go through where every OC has a tragic backstory and their parents are dead. Then when I started my first year of high school, I read "The Outsiders" in English class, and after a few chapters, I realized how similiar The Outsiders and TOSOP were. I realized that TOSOP needed to go through a lot of changes. But I've outgrown that phase and my art has improved. And I finally came up with the conflict (that isn't a character's crippling depression) and mcguffin for TOSOP : Aura Devils

In TOSOP, "Aura Guardians" are called "Aura Devils", beings who can control aura, which is said to be the spiritual energy of every living being. The power of being an Aura Devil is given by an ancient entity dubbed the Aurora.
The origin of where Aura Devils and the power of the Aurora came from was lost throughout history, but the most recent and well known perception of it are several occults who worship the Aurora. Each occult goes by different names, perform different rituals, but they all worship the Aurora, want to obtain immense power for various unknown reasons, and are responsible for a lot of kidnappings for ritual purposes. The Aurora is theorized to be a pokémon.
The way people become Aura Devils is through ancient rituals. Ancient Aura rituals are passed down from former cult members through a necromancy-like book. But versions copies of various methods have been made to preserve the ritual procedures, as well as bits of information about rituals being put together and theorized to be the proper procedure. Most ritual methods have been obscured throughout history and cult members have been left to test and hypothesis different methods from information they already know. Sometimes it works, but most time it doesn't.
Ash Ketchum (opposite AU version) has gotten involved in the occult and became an Aura Devil. (Opposite) Sanpei has also gotten in a similar situation which got him exiled from his village because Hanzo doesn't want the Ninja Village to be associated with Aura Devils. I promise that the new plot will be drastically different from the old plot.
