You could hear the cheers and excitement from your cage; it both made you terrified and confident. You knew you were to fight an angel who remained triumphant for every mutant he fought. Being forced into a fight with another mutant was the last thing you wanted. The day the club captured you, you knew you were bound to it for life. There was only one way out: death.

As your cage was slowly wheeled towards the arena, a part of you hoped the angel would just put you out of your misery quickly. Your power was nothing compared to his wings, your superhuman reflexes were good with dodging attacks but you were close to useless when it came to doing any damage yourself.

Before you could prepare yourself for what was bound to happen, you were tipped out of your cage and onto the cold floor. Scrambling to your feet, you caught sight of the angel you were to face and immediately tears stung your eyes. "Warren?"

The young man you hadn't seen in years was in just as much shock as you were. "No, no, no! This can't be happening."

The day he disappeared out of nowhere was the darkest of your life. You loved Warren like he was the last man on Earth, and you'd been searching for him for almost two years before you were captured.

"Why aren't they fighting?" The enraged shouts from the audience started filling up the room, and you gulped when the guards started pointing their guns at the pair of you.

"Is there no way out?" You whispered, just loud enough for only Warren to hear. He shook his head. "Trust me, I've tried. You have to pretend to fight me so they don't kill us both."

You darted your eyes to the loaded guns and back to Warren, giving him a reassuring smile before he starting flapping his wings around. To any crowd member, they looked violent, but to you, they were the opposite. You knew he wouldn't hurt you, you just had to pretend. Dodging his wings as often as you could, you threw in some loose punches to sell the fight to the club.

His wings lightly tapped you across your left shoulder, and you groaned dramatically before flinging yourself backwards against the electric fence. You could feel the electricity running, the painful surge racing through you like you'd been stabbed in the heart. Warren pulled you from the fence and threw you into the centre of the cage, being careful not to dig his fingertips into your arms.

Sparks started exploding from above you, and you looked to Warren in confusion. When the crowd started screaming and racing to the nearest exit, Warren flew upwards and ripped the fence off its hinges. He landed back on the ground and extended his hand to you, pulling you firmly into his side as he flew the pair of you out and into the streets.

"I'm going to land on a rooftop until we can figure out where to go." He shouted to you over the wind, readjusting his hold on you so you wouldn't fall. You nodded and waited patiently for him to land. Terror was all you felt, but you trusted this man with your life. He had saved the two of you, and you'd been reunited with the love of your life. You were safe in his embrace, even hundreds of feet up in the air.
