I looked down from the ceiling to see a girl standing in front of me. She had skin the color of old ash and was wearing a dress that went far past her feet and dragged on the floor. She was beautiful, in an inhuman kind of way.

"What?" I asked.

She tilted her head with a curious smile. Her lips were the same color as the inside of a seashell. "I said, you must be new here."

"Maybe I'm not new here. Maybe you've just never seen me before."

Here she laughed, her head falling back. The stars were reflected in her eyes. "Maybe. But I think you just entered now. Hoseok and Yoongi just mentioned something about someone coming in."

I pursed my lips. "Namjoon says you want me dead."

She thought about that. "Why would I want you dead? We've only just met now."

"Then why did he lie to me?"

The girl shook her head. "I don't think he lied to you. You see, Namjoon sees the past, the present, and the future together. He can't tell the difference between them. So he didn't mean exactly that I want you dead now, just that I have or will at some point in time."

"What do you mean, he sees the past and the future?"

She laughed, backing away from me. "You're really not from around here, are you?"

Something formed on the floor beneath me. Another door, I realized. And it would open whether or not I wanted it to. "I don't think you're from around here either."

With that, I fell through the door beneath me and into darkness. But not before I heard her answer: "Don't you know? I'm the only one from around here."
