Thunder rumbled out around Hogwarts, getting louder with each passing second. The harsh pattering of the rain on the windows was almost taunting, every so often dying down a little before coming back even stronger. Every few minutes or so, lightening would strike somewhere outside, casting an eerie glow inside the dormitory room where you laid, in your bed, quivering under the blankets, and not just because of the mid-winter chill.

Your other dorm mates were sleeping soundly, soft snores leaving a couple of them as they dreamt of wonderful things, oblivious to the awful weather outside that was keeping you up. You wished you were asleep; happy, unaware and at peace.

That way, you wouldn't be laying in your bed, wide-eyed and breathing heavily, utterly and completely scared about the rain pelting down from the dark and cloudy skies above.

You kept telling yourself to be brave, not to be so childish, but it was useless. Storms were your biggest fear, and there was nothing else that even came close.

As another flash of lightening lit up your dorm room, you felt your heart beat faster, and decided you couldn't stay in this room awake and alone. Not any longer.

Taking a deep breath, you heaved yourself out of bed, your hands shaking as you reached out to grab your blanket. You headed out of the dorm and towards Draco's/your common room, where, to your luck, your boyfriend had apparently been having trouble sleeping too, as he was sat on a sofa, curled up and seemingly lost in thought, as you walked in.

"D-Draco?" You stuttered, gripping onto the blanket in your fists, trembling as the room seemed to shake with the thunder. The blonde looked over at you from his place on the couch and his eyes widened as he called out your name, "Y/n!"

Draco jumped up off the couch quickly and rushed over to your shivering figure, immediately wrapping his arms around you and pulling you close into him, as you buried your head into his neck. With one hand, he carefully took the blanket from you and wrapped it around your shoulders, in an attempt to warm you up, before gently leading you over to the couch he was previously sat on.

"What's wrong, darling?" Draco asked, concerned, pulling you into his lap once he sat down himself, and holding you close. "I... I'm afraid of storms," you whispered sheepishly, leaning into him as another round of thunder rumbled through the night, followed by a bright flash.

A knowing look passed across Draco's face as his grip tightened on you, slowly rocking you slightly back and forth as you closed your eyes and tried to block out the sounds of the storm. Draco placed a soft kiss to your forehead, then gently pushed his lips to yours lovingly.

"'S'ok, I got you. 'M right here," Draco murmured into your ear, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine as you huddled into his chest, "'M right here, darling. Everything is okay. Everything is alright."

He continued to whisper sweet nothings in your ear, ones that were surprisingly calming, and that almost lulled you into a serene sleep.

You flinched again when you heard another loud crack of thunder. Admittedly, the sound was muffled compared to back in the dorm, due to being in the dungeons of the castle, however the lightening still managed to illuminate the dark room, the light bouncing through the water of the Black Lake, and projecting into the Slytherin common room.

"Ignore it, baby, it's just a storm," Draco said, "'S just a storm. 'M not gonna let it hurt you. Never gonna let anything hurt you. I promise."

His hand moved to cradle your head against his chest, as he pressed yet another kiss onto your forehead, in attempt to soothe you.

"Thank you Draco," you muttered softly as you let out a small yawn and closed your eyes, sleepy and somehow not as afraid as before. Draco hummed in response, gently rubbing your back in a calming manner, a small, loving smile resting on his face. He was just glad that his girl was safe and sound in his arms.
